How can I change the background gradient

I can’t seem to locate within the Icolors Preferences where to change the dark black/gray gradient which appears as default in the Zbrush viewport.

My only workaround seems to be filling the layer itself with another color but then when i draw my 3d object on it always crashes through that static background color.

any advice would be great!

Open the Document palette and you will see Range, Center and Rate part way down. Experiment with the sliders. Just above Range you will see a place to choose a color. You can click it and it will change the background to the currently selected color or you can click and drag to the canvas to pick a color. Hope this is what you wanted.

right on! thanks a lot, never would’ve guessed that was color picker for the background, thanks a bunch!
