hight poly texture map to low poly version

Hi ***8211; sorry if this has been asked before - but scouring the site/google I seem to only find dated solutions.

I am using zbrush 4.4

I am trying to understand the work flow for transferring a high poly texture map of a figure to the low/decimated version - I seem to keep losing the material on exporting.

Any tutes I can be pointed to.

With eternal gratitude

pics?

Below is the decimated version 10k from-700k - [ seriously impressed btw ]
I can seperately export the texture map and apply it in max -

Also The original model exports ok with its texture as an .obj

I assumed because older versions texturing was quite involved - there was an updated method -
Still it bugs me Im doing something wrong -

The model /texture is practice job

Thanks for response

I still don’t understand what you’re trying to achieve.
Are you wanting to get your polypaint from one object to another with different vert counts?

What does the hipoly texture look like?
are you baking a map or trying to use polypaint to handle your texture detail?
Do you know what the difference between vertex coloring and pixels?

You can have Decimation Master preserve Polypaint data (manual option in the preferences), have it keep UVs and just use the same texture, or you can use Project All with RGB on to transfer the data over.

The color from the texture and the material are different things however. So you can select the material you want and use Tool: TextureMap: Fill Mat to fill it with a material of your choice (or fill it with Flat Color so that it just uses whatever material is currently selected)

Thanks for response - I will give that a look over - Im a total newb at this - I tried sculpting in max years ago but was put off - Im sort of shocked at how easy it is to sculpt in zbrush - just need to understand the colouring/mapping stuff.
Will report back:D

Hi -thanks for response - that is the hi poly texture on the low poly model.
Baking no
polypaint from Hi model to another lower vert count -yes [face palm] I now realize why the definition is lost - however I seem to have created and applied the hi poly texture to the low poly model with out being able to ‘bind it’ for export - The model has to have the texture map applied separately in an out side program -that seems hit and miss too btw judging by my latest efforts.

If only there was one button…
The best tutes are written by idiots - for idiots  [think I will make that my sig]
