Heath Ledger / Joker WIP

Hi,

I’ve been away from Zbrush for quite a while since Version 2. I notice a lot of new cool stuff that I never know in version 4.
I’ve been playing around with it and been trying to sculpt a Joker head that I planned on printing it later on with 3D Printer.

Maybe this project has been posted here a lot since Heath and Joker is a very famous topic :D.

But, here is my WIP. Please give me input on it, I will really appreciate it since my sculpting skill is also very basic.
My approach on this project is to nail down the look of Heath Ledger first before I turn him to Joker :).

These are the picture so far, in Dynamesh.

Thanks.

Its a good start minotauro.

You may want to consider taking down the resolution a bit at this point.

The models surface looks a little lumpy and its easy to avoid that if you work out the main shapes at a lower resolution. And the better the low res looks, the easier it will be to lay in the details later on.

I can see the resemblance though, just keep at it, study your reference as much as you can and you’ll get there!

Thank you for the comment, I’ll work on it :).

Another Updates.
I’ve addressed the lumpy surface and been adding some light wrinkles and pores to the sculpt.

Please let me know what you think. Critics and Inputs are welcome :).
Thanks.

I’ve been playing around with sculpted hair too.
What I did was using Clay Build Up Brush and then using the Dam Standard tool to Add and Subtract according to the flow.
Need tips on this one :confused:.

Here are the pictures.

Looking good sir…

I would suggest finding the pics of Heath in the scar make-up but NOT the joker make-up to see what the scars look like - you may already have those but I think they could use a little work.

I find the Orb Crack brush to be very helpful for a load of things and hair is one of them. Google it and look for the download. It’s on Vimeo

Also - once you have the bulk of your hair shape in place you will need to Dynamesh it to recreate the mesh so you can subdivide it more to keep that distortion from happening.

Those are just my thoughts though.

Best of luck!

Could it be the eyes are just a bit too close? I’m just a noob, but my “celebrity busts” are my best work so far. Maybe he just needs matcap gray to tone him down. It may be the red wax is making his nose look narrow, making his eyes look a bit too close. Anyway, I’ll have to check on him and see how you’re doing. He’s off to a nice start! I don’t have many tricks to share, but am happy to lend another pair of eyes.

@CREG Customs
Hey Dean. Thanks for the input, I agree the scar still need more work on it. I’ll try to study my references more and work on it. Thanks for the tips on the brush, I’ll give it a shot.

Cheers.

@gellison
Hey gellison, thank you for the feedback, I will check on the base proportion to make sure everything is OK.
Thanks :+1:.

I’ve been playing around with expression and decided to make an attempt based on the mob scene picture.
