Guts from Berserk

Hello Zbrush Community!

First post!
I’ve been lurking in the shadows reading posts here and looking at all the amazing work getting posted for a while now. I’m a 3d modeling artist currently working in a small studio in Germany (started out as an intern and am now moving on to Character art in the next year). Most days I work in Zbrush, and while I have gotten very comfortable with the technical features in the modeling workflow, I am continually seeking to improve my artistic skill set. With this model I feel that I am reaching the limit of my artistic ability, and need some help to take it to the next level.

So I am a huge berserk fan, and since there hasn’t been any big Gatsu Zbrush projects I thought I would try one myself. This has been my hobby-weekend project, so time hasn’t been an issue (3 months working weekends so far :p). I want to render it in keyshot (if they release the goZ plugin before the end of the year like they promised) because I’ve been meaning to try it out for a while now. Otherwise I’ll UV and bake and take everything in Vray in 3ds max. So all that to say the color tones are far from final. I did some BPR-ing and took the passes into Photoshop so that is the image with the vinigrette.

Really looking for some focused crit. My personal problem areas are the hand and polypainting. Usually I texture everything in photoshop (just throw enough grunge maps of things and everything looks good), but I never made any UVs for Gatsu. This is because I was planning to trying out the vertex colors promised to me in the Keyshot plugin…so I did everything with polypaint! It’s difficult because there are no gazillion adjustment layers with masks etc., so any pro tips on how to step up the polypainting workflow would be super helpful.

Anyway, thanks for looking!
