GoZ Installation and issues - Manual install

Hi,

<b>EDIT: Please, before posting your issue or question, check that you have installed the last release of GoZ, available from [the Download Center](http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/zplugins/)</b>

In this thread we will post some fixes or information about the problem that some of you may have with GoZ. We will update the first post as necessary with new information.

Discussions about the GoZ Update 1 are starting from this post.

GoZ Update 1

General information:

  • When GoZ is prompting on install for an administrator agreement or an adminstrator login/password, please, accept and/or enter an administrator login/password EVEN if you are currently login under an account which have such privileges.
  • If Maya is launching each time you click the GoZ buton, it's because of an install issue. Please, retry to install GoZ for Maya by doing a force reinstall, in the Prefereces >> GoZ sub menu.
Note: most of the GoZ issues are related to an install problem.

GoZ Manual installation:

If the Automatic install failed and the provided solution doesn’t help, you can try to do a manual install of GoZ.
Please, download the PDF in attachment, which include these instructions, for both Macintosh and Windows.

GoZ for ZBrush 4 first release

If you can’t update GoZ with the last build, this is some information related to the original release of GoZ for ZBrush4:

<b>General information:</b>
  • Please, don't do a manual installation of GoZ, like it was on ZBrush 3.2 OS X. GoZ include self installers for the target application and on Macintosh, GoZ can remove all the existing GoZ files before installing the new ones.
  • For Mac OS X users who installed GoZ manually with ZBrush 3.2 OS X: your original GoZ folders, located in public/pixologic are backuped on install. Please, don't redo a manual install or moving files. GoZ for ZBrush 4 has been fully rewritten, then manually copying files will result of a non working or partially working GoZ.
  • If GoZ display an error message that it can't save/write the file or if the target application do the same, check the "GoZ_projectPath.txt file located in your Public/Pixologic/GoZProjects/Default/ folder. It should include a full patch which must be C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZProjects\Default\ on Windows and /Users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZProjects/Default/ on Mac OSX. In specific scenarios, the patch may be located in your OS language and may cause his issue.
Maya for Mac:
  • Be sure to delete any previous GoZBrush shelf (the one from ZBrush 3.2) before installing GoZ for Maya.
Modo for Mac:
  • On some computers, you may need to reinstall modo to make GoZ working. because of potential files permissions issues or remaining miss installed files from GoZ 3.2 OS X.

Prior to this update my problem was the materials being doubled in C4D. After this update the GoZ -> C4D does not work at all.

rstralberg: this C4D update is for Mac OSX, not windows.

Ok. Sorry I misunderstood. Thought it was for windows also.
Wish I could afford a MAC

I tested the GoZ and C4D windows version and run perfect! The color, normal and displacement are exported as expected. The back and forth between apps run without crashes:+1:

(EDIT) The below problem is resolved. I reinstalled both Modo and Zbrush 4. I started Zbrush and ran a few tests, GoZ is running fine now.

Hello,
I am working with OSX, Modo 401 SP5r2, and ZBrush 4.
When I am in Zbrush and hit the GoZ button nothing happens.

If I hit the ALL button to the right of it everything works - All meshes are imported into Modo at their lowest subd. level.
If I hit the VISIBLE button to the right, Modo opens and becomes the active application but no mesh appears in the viewport.
The GoZ button within Modo works fine, I hit it, Zbrush becomes the active application and the mesh is imported into it.

I went into preferences/goz/ and I tried all the options there, but none helped.
I am not sure what to try next.

For your information, the first post has been updated.

Cinema4D for Mac, problem with textures when going from ZBrush to Cinema4D:
In C4D, open the script editor. If there is already a GoZBrushFromCinema4D script in the list, delete it.
Copy the new GoZBrushToCinema4D.csc available in the attachments below into /Users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZApps/Cinema4D.
Quit Cinema4D and launch ZBrush.

Go to the Preferences >> GoZ menu and click on the Force Reinstall button, then choose Cinema 4D.
Here is a problem, ZB cannot find Cinema (can’t select it). C4D is installed on another disk, not my systemdisk where ZBrush 4 is installed.
There are no problems going from C4D to ZBrush.
Any solution?screenshot_01.jpgscreenshot_02.jpg

Force reinstall is to be use when Cinema 4D path is already known by GoZ and its component already installed.
Then, in your case, click in the GoZ preferences on Path to Cinema 4D, then after waiting few seconds for ZBrush looking for the application, in the dialog box which open, chose Browse and select the C4D application.

Then when it’s done, everything should be fine.

Just for you information.

This solved my ‘double materials’ problems on GoZ Windows also.

Thanks Totyo, this was the first thing I tried. I tried it again and waited for 2 minutes… nothing. ZB can’t find Cinema 4d (R11).
As I mentioned before, from C4D to ZBrush there are no problems. C4D is installed on another partition. Should that be a problem?screenshot_02.jpg

All steps done (again)
When I browse to find the custom location of C4D, why I get a new window with a save option for an .app? (select the path to Cinema 4d > Save as: Modo.app  ) I do not have Modo :warning:
In a normal way I should have to select the Cinema 4d program to show ZB where to find it.

I have Modo and Maya and GoZ works fine with both Apps as long as I press “All” or “Visible”, But the “GoZ” button does nothing. Force reinstall didn’t help. I´m on a Mac and used GoZ with 3.2 before. Any idea? Thanks in advance.

Bas Mazur: for the selector of application, it’s a bug, but it works. When the system window appears, select C4D.app, don’t take care of the modo already displayed. It will ask you to allow to overwrite your file, click yes. It won’t overwrite it or delete your .app, don’t take care of the warning. it will be fixed in the next GoZ build.

MacRobi: please, can you open a ticket at the support, and in your message, ask to have it assigned to “Xavier”. Don’t forget to fill your profile
Do you have the problem with let’s say the sample ZTL Dog or the Demohead, or do you have this problem with all the models? (models with and without SubTools)?

Thanks, problem solved :+1:

Good to know

Thanks for your response, Totyo. The problem occures with all subtools. My Support ticket is on its way.

My materials are not showing up in Max when using GoZ.

My workflow:

  1. Create displacement map in Zbrush
  2. Turn Displacement map on
  3. Select GoZ for max 2011 x64
  4. Max opens with model, but no maps

I am using Windows 7 64bit with Zbrush 4

new2Brush : your displacement maps doesn’t appears in your slot or doesn’t appears on rendering time?
Displacemenrt maps are located in the mental Ray connection, not in the default dispalcement slot.
