GoZ Addon keeps shutting down Zbrush

The GoZ Addon keeps shutting down Zbrush whenever I try to upload from Daz3D.

Even a fresh and most basic sphere cannot be transferred.

This was working before 2018.1 came out.

I really need some help in trying to get it to work again, anyone know how?

Here are some things to know before giving an answer:

  • Freshly installed a few times, did not work.
  • Operating System is not at fault.
  • There are Compatibility Issues/Errors, double checked and none.
  • There are no conflict errors between Daz3D and Zbrush themselves.
  • Not using other programs that may cause conflicts in tandem: Hexagon, Bryce, Maya, etc.
  • Zbrush works just fine as a whole, models can be made and used as normal. Just GoZ is broken.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I use the GoZ Addon a lot, but now I don’t know what is going on.

From what I can tell lots of people on art forums and CG forums, have been having issues with GoZ in the newest update.

Sadly, no answer have been given to the solution that may help.

I got commissions I need to do soon, and I can’t work if GoZ won’t work. :frowning:

The Daz3D GoZ is the responsibility of Daz not Pixologic. You need to contact Daz.

You may be able to clean it up by uninstalling ZB, the DAZ GoZ plugin, and (most importantly) deleting the users>public>pixologic folder (make a backup first). If you know about the inner workings of GoZ you can clear out a couple text files that may be tripping up the GiZ plugin.

I did over the night today, and some have told me it’s not a Daz3D problem. And that it’s a Pixologic problem.

With two communities pointing a finger at each other for GoZ’s issues, I’m running out of people to ask for help at this point.

I could give it a try. But do you have a step-by-step way to go about doing this method?

I want to be as precise as I can, to ensure I don’t make a mistake I will regret; like either program crashing, errors, etc.

GoZ also supports the following applications:

  • Modo 10 and Modo 11 (Supported by The Foundry)
  • Lightwave 11.x and Lightwave 2015.x (Supported by NewTek)
  • Poser 2012 SR2, 2013 and 2014 (Supported by Smith Micro)
  • DAZ Studio 4 (Supported by Daz3D)
  • DAZ Carrara 8 Pro (Supported by Daz3D)
  • EIAS 9 (Supported by Eias3D)

For these applications, GoZ was implemented by their developer rather than by Pixologic. Therefore, the necessary GoZ components are not able to be included with ZBrush. Installing GoZ for these applications requires the necessary installers from the company that supports it. Pixologic cannot assist with installation of GoZ or any issues that might arise regarding use of GoZ with these applications.

Try this first:

  1. Make Sure Zbrush and Daz Studio are closed.
  2. Delete the contents of the folder Users>Public>Pixologic>GoZProjects>Default (do not delete the folder). This will empty the cache of GoZ files.
  3. Delete "GoZ_ObjectPath.txt" and "GoZ_ObjectList.txt" from the folder Users>Public>Pixologic>GoZbrush This will clear out the last GoZ session.

If that doesn’t work, then:

  1. uninstall Zbrush 2018.1
  2. DazStudio 4.xx
  3. Copy the folder Users>Public>Pixologic to a safe place and delete Users>Public>Pixologic folder in its entirety (this will delete most local ZB files.)
  4. If Program Files>Pixologic folder still exists copy to a safe place and delete (this will delete any remaining program config files.)
  5. Reinstall Zbrush 2018.1
  6. Reinstall DazStudio 4.xx (I'm using the 4.11 beta, but 4.10 is the current production version.)
  7. Reinstall DazStudio GoZ Plugin
  8. Open Zbrush and configure GoZ by going to Preferences>GoZ>Path to DazStudio64 and set the path to Daz Studio executable.
  9. Start up DazStudio, load Genesis8 (or other figure file) and send it by GoZ.
  10. Test by making a couple changes and hit GoZ to send back to DazStudio

If GoZ isn’t working at this point, I would export objs via DaZStudio’s export function at Lightwave scale (1=1m), edit in Zbrush, and load the morph with MorphLoader Pro.

Hi people! Here’s the solution!

I refused to think uninstalling and reinstalling everything was the answer, mainly because this kind of addons usually rely merely on file paths and nothing much more complex than that. Doing a little digging I found a blog post that had a detailed solution for the problem, that didn’t involved uninstalling Zbrush nor Daz, and I leave the link below:

Just in case, the steps are the following, and they shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes:

1) Close Zbrush and Daz if you have them opened.

2) Open Daz’s " Install Manager " and uninstall GoZ.

3) Click on the little gear icon, top right. Click on " Advanced Settings ".

4) On the Advanced Settings window, go to " Applications " and check for any Zbrush path. You won’t probably see any, but if you do, delete it .

5) Click on the " + " icon on the lower left corner and a little window called " Add Application Path " will pop up. Choose Zbrush on the “Name” list, put your version (It doesn’t really matter that much, I have Zbrush 2021 and clicked 2020 because mine wasn’t on the version list) and then find the path to your current Zbrush , which should be something like “C:\Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush 2021” (If you don’t know the path, you can right-click the Zbrush icon on your desktop and go to “Properties”, and copy the “Destination” path without the quotation marks and without the “\Zbrush.exe” at the end)

6) Click the green “Accept” button and install GoZ again, which should appear on the “Ready to Download” tab.

7) Open Daz, and on " Preferences ", find " Bridges ". Below the Zbrush one, check as " yes " whatever options it gives you. That’s it! You should be good to go.

I hope this helps whoever has or had this problem.

Cheers!
