I am trying to make a glass jar. A creature is holding it, and i want to see what is on the inside. i have followed a few different ways to do it but with no success. I am a little confused that there aren’t many up to date tutorials on glass. Or even a Glass material, is it just that i cant find them? :ex:
here is a visual.

It can get tricky.
The way that I would do it would be to add the jar last. Do the following:
- Create the scene without the jar and save your work.
- Do a best render.
- Bake the layer. (Layer>Bake) This “freezes” the best render and bakes all the shading onto the canvas.
- Select your jar and set Draw>Rgb Intensity to a lower value to achieve transparency.
- Draw your jar on the canvas and position it. The lower Rgb Intensity will let you see through the jar. Keep the gyro active so you can continue to adjust Rgb Intensity to get just the right effect you want, as well as adjust the material properties.
- Additionally, you can turn on Refraction in the Draw palette.
Additionally the Transparency slider in materials such as Toy Plastic can be used if:
- The ‘behind’ objects are on a separate Layer.
- ‘Flatten’ is switched off in the Render palette.
This shows the basic approach:
