Game Art, Necromancer General

Don’t see alot of game oriented stuff here, here goes, this was my Dominance war entry, its an evil necromancer general, heavilly zbrushed piece, most if not all the details were modeled in zbrush, and then i generated the normal maps using zmapper and 3dsmax normal map projection tools (sadly zmapper doesn’t seem to work well with floating geometry) textured with photoshop, heres the result.

total 5000 polygons (tris)

Real good stuff. Hard to believe that you got the whole thing pulled off in 5000 tri’s. Can you tell what is the Texture resolution you used? Also it will be of big help if you post a tut on making normal maps from Zbrush high poly model to taking to max Low poly model.

Wonderful stuff. I agree, I would love to see many more realtime oriented models. This is clearly a class model. Thanks for supplying the various views, especially the wireframe :+1:

texture resolution = 1024x1024 total i broke it up into smaller textures, if you follow the link at the end of the first post theres more images, and i posted the flats for the diffuse and normal maps. tutorials coming shortly.

Rawk, not only is he exquisitely sculpted and designed, but I’ve done game models before and seeing this done in 5K polys is just unbelievable. You sir, are a master modeler…:smiley:

I followed the progress of this model on polycount, and I must say you’ve done an amazing job. the wonderful amount of detail you manage to pull through with your normal map is astounding and really shows you understand what you are doing. thank you for sharing this inspiring work.

you make me cry man this is so cool. i think if the quality of the next gen games is going to be this good is gonna be just stunning how cool we are going to be able to play. one quastion do ypu work in some studio in the states?

this was all rendered in max, nothing fancy just some omnis, no advanced lighting.
