Thought this would be a good model to attempt for practice.
I Still have got a long way to go so C&C is totally welcome.
Thanks.
Freddy! What a great character to use for Zbrush. I think you have a really long way to go before this is complete, but I also think you’re just getting started. Keep it moving, this is an awsome first step.
Great start!
No doubt that the final result will be amazing!
I like how there is not a bunch of self intersection even though the surface is quite convoluted. Likeness is great too.

Wow! Off to a wonderful start! This is going to be awesome!
Awesome start, man! What’d you use for reference?
For Ref I grabbed some screen caps from the movies and for the rest I used good ol`Google.
Nice start… actually you look quite far along in terms of likeness.
I’m sure you’ve got it in hand, but one tip I like to do is to compile a quicktime of a bunch of stills (5secs or so per image) and just watch it in a loop for half an hour or so every so often - it seems to imprint a good mental image of the character into my head.
Starting to rough out the pose now.
Still a ways to go but at least the pieces are all there for the most part.
I also figured out how to use Matcap (Cool Shiz) so I made a custom one of those too.
C & C welcomed

Let me tell you that it is maybe the best Fredy If ever seen.
I´m make up artist and I have seen a lot of busts and displays of Freddy ad always they didn´t take the mood or the real shape.
I´m not a big fan of Freddy but I admire a lot how good you are getting the likenes.
All the best, Arturo
to DHARMAESTUDIO: First off thanks for the compliment and I totally agree that most of the recreations of the Freddy character do not seem to look like Robert Englund or have his posture. Not saying mine is the best but the goal of the project is to capture Mr. Englund’s physical portrayal of Mr. Krueger.
Hopefully when I’m finished if nothing else I can acheive that goal.
Definitely looking really cool so far! great work, i will be looking forward for more!

Man I was wondering what ever happened to the cool Freddy sculpt! It’s good to see that you’re going to finish it.
I always try to give an honest opinion with criticisms and/or compliments. While I LOVE the head, face and hand, I think the overall pose could use some more “scary” expression. Proportionally, it’s really good and the clothes are going to look realistic for sure. The wrinkles are developing nicely. The detail will be sharp. I just think it needs to be more of a creepy stance or pose, rather than him just standing there (which does look very natural, just not fitting for Freddy on the attack). This has so much potential.
Expression through form and body language is the most important thing in art. Many think that it’s detail, but that is certainly not the case. They go hand in hand, but in some cases, such as speed painting, it’s all about expression of form. Therefore, art can go without great detail, but not without great form.
It’s easy to get into ZBrush and increase the detail in your art while losing sight of simple things that breathe life into the work. Trust me I know. I normally speed paint. I just finished one of my first composited ZBrush illustrations and the detail is so amazing, but the expression is kinda weak. Even though this will look excellent in the right surroundings, I still think you should bring 'em to life! Just make 'em scary as all hell!
Good luck, and please don’t take offense, we’ll all be excited to see any finished product from such a good sculpt.
Wow this freddy loooks really great. Nice sculpt!
great likness with the original Freddy … i like the character great sculpt keep it up
jamespthornton: First off I totally appreciate the honesty.
When I decided to make a body for him I gave a fair amount of thought to the pose. One of my big problems i see with alot of fan sculpts are that they never look like Freddy because they’re in these poses and actions he never did in the films. So I looked through the movies and found this to be a fairly common pose he uses and I believed it captured his charater. Having said that though recently when I was working on it I had kind of the same thought that your saying…that really the pose is relatively boring and uninteresting.
I haven’t come to a decision as to what I’m going to do yet but I’m defiantly gonna give it some more thought.
Thanks again for everyone’s comments.
I agree with some of the posts in this thread. Freedy is a very good
character for ZBrush, and you did it perfectly Habitity.
Thanks for taking the crits as constructively as they were intended to be. Like I said, in the right scene and lighting, that pose could be effective. Go with your own gut feeling on it, while just taking my opinions into account. It might only seem like weak expression because there’s no surroundings, who knows. I just can take one glimpse at your sculpting ability and tell your level of talent. I always feel comfortable challenging such artists. Whatever you do with it will be awesome, I’m sure of that. Experiment with it and see what happens. Good luck, and I can’t wait to see the end result!
Peace…
