Female Torso (Critique Appreciated) (1st Serious Sculpt!)

Hey guys, I decided to get serious about the whole CG Business not too long ago, and I’m devoting two hours a day to doing nothing but sculpting, for as long as I can, starting today.

This is my first serious sculpt, a female torso, and it's turning out much better than I'd thought it would, considering how questionable my accuracy concerning human anatomy is in traditional art. First thing's first, if you can criticize it in any way at all, please feel free to do so. I was doing this with little to no reference, just having some fun. I can point out right away two things that need improvement, but I'm not exactly sure how to fix them: 1. Her breasts take on a strange shape near the top. I'm trying to figure out how to get that 'slope' feeling going on at the top, rather than the abnormal growth. 2. Her butt is horrendous. Honestly, I've spent a while trying to fix it, but can't figure it out. Also, I'm struggling trying to get the butt to feel attached to her body, instead of as if somebody just slapped some sculpted ham into place. I know lots of things are likely off, and that's why I'm here. Thanks for any comments, critique, etc.

If anything’s missing/looks weird, don’t hesitate to say so!! I’ll fix anything that needs fixing.

Hey, good to see someone putting some time into something they love. The sculpt is a good starting point but sadly that’s about it. Just curious, how did you start this sculpt? with Z spheres or a basic object? It seems that the basic structure was not laid out much before you went farther into detail. It’s always best to work the most on the first level of detail. If that’s good, the rest of the process will be a lot, and I mean A LOT easier to work with.
The number 1 problem that I see is that everything is up far to high. Do you have any reference material you can look at? The breasts begin much to high and are extremely long. If your going for realism breasts are much much smaller and farther down on the chest. Also, her hips are much to high also. If you divide the current hips into 3 equal parts real hips begin at about the lowest third, perhaps a bit higher. The underlying bone structure for the neck and shoulders isn’t bad. It’s a great start. But still look at some reference material. It will help a lot. As far as her butt is concerned, it look like she didn’t have one and then you inflated one from her back. Like I said earlier, work on the lowest subdivision level and get all your basic shapes done there. When you make her butt, remember that it goes all the way around and connects to her thigh/hips area. It doesn’t suddenly end before the side of her body. The top of the butt also begins smoother and angles down slowly where it rounds out at the bottom with a small curve back up. Again, the bottom of the butt should fade away into the thigh and calf area rather than a bubble effect. There are other things to mention but I’d say work on the above first.

Great start though. I really like seeing new people getting into sculpting. It’s great to see people getting better. I hope what I said makes sense to you. Good luck to your future sculpts

Thanks for your criticism! I started the sculpt with ZSpheres. I was initially going to make a basemesh in another program, but ZSpheres were faster. I was looking at some reference images, and I see exactly what you were talking about. Since it’s about 2:00 in the morning here, I’ll be retiring for now, but I’ll work on the sculpt as soon as I get home.

I do actually have a bad habit of jumping straight to high SubD levels, and I should probably stop  . And I’ll focus on readjusting her parts so that everything is where is should be.

Again, thanks for helping  . And I’m glad that my focus on 3D could make you happy!
