eyedropper tool

Hi folks,

Is there a ZBrush tool/utility akin to the Photoshop eyedropper tool? I can see and understand the Mr GBZ grabber tool but that appears to pick up a texture. Is there any way I can just pick up the pixol colour info at a certain point?

Thanks much

PhilC

The picker pallette would be what you’re looking for.

ola, Phil!

at the default settings in the picker palette you can pick up any colour (and material by the way, too), by first clicking into the icon of the active colour/material in the according palette first, and then (mousebutton still pressed) move it to the pixols you want the colour/material of. this picks up the colour/material. hope that helps!

Hey Phil,

Also, if you drag from the Color window to the document, you can pick up any color. The same applies to material, just drag from the Material window.

By the way, this works for setting the ZDepth for things like Fog and Depth Cue. Lots of things can be set this way. How cool is that!?!

:b4: I See juandel beat me too it :b4:

ah ha! got it. I knew it was something like that. Could not find that info in the manual.

(I now find that mouse over + ctrl gives an amplified popup info)

Thanks for the help folks its appreciated

In addition, the MRGBZGrabber, with Shaded turned off in the tool modifiers, will capture just the flat color without any material information. This would be useful if you want to capture an area of the project, rather than just one pixol’s values.

For simple color and material matching, though, the Picker is your best friend! The manual is an invaluable bit of reading for this awesome tool, which can be used to capture information from other layers, and can be used to pick depth, draw angles, and a few other things.

And unlike Photoshop’s eyedropper, it can be used to continually resample the image – a very useful feature!

Yes!!! Awesome!!!
