"Error has been encountered while trying to load a Tool. Loading has been aborted".

Ok I got this message yesterday while working on a project. Every time I try to open this certain file of mine I then get this error message. I have version 4r6 of zbrush. This file that I lost is a pretty important file…

Can someone please give me any feed back on this issue. Im a new learner of zbrush and I believe that the file I lost was a pretty huge file. The size of the file was at a 2,288,538 KB. The strange thing is that everything seemed to move prefect while working in zbrush but then I hit the quick sketch button by mistake and some loading started to happen then the error message poped up. Then I tried to open the file again and all I get is “Error has been encountered while trying to load a Tool. Loading has been aborted”. Everything worked fine before this happened. Also a day before this happened I even put a extra 2GB of memory into my computer (hopefully that has nothing to do with this)

This is very discouraging as a new learner of zbrush. Any suggestions?

thanks

Aside from the fact you may need to update to ZB4R6 P2. Your file size is huge and I’d guess you have been saving undo history. Open ZBrush and disable loading the undo history and it may open for you. HTH

also if what doug suggested doesn’t work, you may have several versions of that file still in your quicksave folder, you can try loading one of them.

quick sketch button is badly placed, it’s happened to me several times.

Thanks so much for the response back guys. I will try this and see what happens…

again thank you

I wanted to say that it did not work for me, but thanks.

Also I wanted to ask, I was told that saving my work as a ZTL is better than saving it as a ZPR. Why is that?

I was also told by a customer service guy that I have to wait for Zbrush 7 in order to open up the file because 7 will be a upgrade made for 64 bit computers. He said my file was way to big.

thanks again

.ztl files saves only the current tool, and all subtools within that tool.

.zpr files save textures, zapplink views, all tools and their subtools in the project, render settings, etc.

In the future to avoid losing all of your work, you should always save in iteration.
