Dynamesh - hotkey instead of ctrl + drag on the background?

Hi, Im working on a tileable texture using wrapping mode, meaning that my sculpt takes up 100% of the canvas and I lock the camera when Im working.

My question is if it’s possible to dynamesh without having to ctrl + drag on the background but to use hotkeys instead? (since now I need to zoom out - dynamesh and then reframe/align my sculpt again.)

Hello @engigear ,

You can assign a hotkey to the main Dynamesh button. This will actually toggle Dynamesh mode on and off, but it will have the same effect of activating a new Dynamesh when it is switched back on. Note that if “Project” is not enabled, Dynamesh won’t update the mesh unless it has changed in some way.

Re: ctrl-dragging when zoomed in:

  1. If you control drag outside of the thin white line that is near the border of the canvas, it will work to trigger a dynamesh even if you are zoomed in closely.

  2. If you begin a Ctrl-drag anywhere in the canvas then use Spacebar to drag the marquee off-canvas and release, it will work for Dynamesh.

  3. Using the Document> Scroll feature to scroll the canvas slightly off to the side will open up a bit of empty grey space between the edge of the canvas and the border of the UI. This space can be used for navigation or to release masking marquees in service of point #2.
