Dinocroc Vs Supergator - SyFy Original Movie (Gore)

Hi Everyone.

I am a Visual Effects Supervisor at Authority FX, based out of Guelph, Ontario. I have been using Zbrush for several years, and I usually visit these forums weekly to indulge myself in all the amazing eye candy, as well as snag a few tips from all the great artists. However, this is my first post, so I hope everyone likes what I have to show.

Now that the film has premiered on the SyFy Channel, I have been given permission to share with everyone the two creatures from David Carradine’s final film - Dinocroc Vs Supergator.

For anyone familiar with Roger Corman’s “Dinocroc” or “Supergator” films, you will know they are the same creature - Which poses the question - “Who wants to see an epic battle of two identical creatures?” So with that in mind, the Director gave our team at Authority FX full creative control over the design of the creatures.

After we worked out the look and received approval from the Director, I began sculpting and painting. Each creature was about 9 million polys in Zbrush excluding their teeth, claws, eyes, and spikes.

Zbrush proved to be an invaluable tool for the creature work, as well as the many props and digital doubles we were required to make.

Very nice, i look forward to see the film.
Great job.
What kind of other stuff have you made?
you say “as well as the many props and digital doubles”.
is it possible to show something?

Yeah, I’ll see if I can post a few more things soon for you to see.

Thanks for the compliments

This is the Zbrush model of the girl we had to match who loses her bottom half to a hungry Supergator. I also included some before and after pics of the zbrush model in action.

This shot can also be seen in action in the 2010 demo reel found here
