Digital River downloading tip

I remember this from the 1.23->1.50 update… For whatever reason I wound up trying to get a valid download two or three times, and Digital River soon said something along the lines of, “You’ve downloaded it 12 times already, chill out!” and wouldn’t let me get it anymore.

The culprit turned out to be a download accellerator (Speed Download on OS X in my case), which is a downloader app that intercepts Web downloads and uses multiple, parallel connections to get higher download speeds. Apparently DR had interpereted each connection as a separate download, and I used up my initial allocation of attempts with only a couple of tries.

It might be a good idea to disable any download accellerator you might be using, just in case something goes awry. Speed Download lets you manually add a new download and specify the number of connections to use…1 connection just worked fine for me.

HTH!

Ecellent info, Pres, and thank you for sharing it!

In addition, we have found some cases where a download accelerator or assistant will corrupt the file as it’s being downloaded. We strongly recommend using just the HTTP download method, and NOT using any software to “help” with the download process.

its not the case here … just plain http:

The only other option that I can think of is to clear your Digital River cookies. To do so, you will need to click on all three of the following links:

Click First

Click Second

Click Third

If this doesn’t help, then your only options are to wait several hours or to contact digital river directly at either [email protected], 800-656-5426, or +1 952-253-8400.

We do not have a way to force anything through the Digital River servers.

Thanks Aurick…

Only a call to digital river would help if you get this error message…

Thanks (downloading…)

Cookie destruction links…cool!

Pres

I am also unable to download it (I get that stupid message about too many attempts). I have used the cookie destruction links and tried different browsers with no luck. I e-mailed Digital River about it last night and am waiting for a reply.

What I did with the previous update when I got that error (#12 was it?) was to give DR a call (from Japan, no less!) and they re-bumped my download allocation up enough for me to get it. Only took a couple of minutes, much better than waiting for email support, IMO.
