Dickens's Mr. Bumble

I’ve been a digital 2D children’s book illustrator (mostly Corel Painter) for most of my career and have been feeling an urge to try something new, so picked up zBrush and have been playing with it for the past month on my iMac. I’m totally hooked and can see a whole new style that I want to head for in my books. So much in fact that I just ordered a PC workstation and Maya too . . . .

Anyway, “bumbling” around, one step forward, six steps back is pretty much how I learn, so I thought Dicken’s Mr. Bumble would be a fun character to play with for a first character sketch. I know - lots of stuff I could polish up here but, I don’t even know how to do a UV map yet!!!

Thats a fun image dude! I like the sculpting detail you have, captured the feel of the guy. Mixing 2D and 3D should be a sweet addition to the images for the books. Try out MODO 601 i like it way better than maya and its cheaper. But maya is a great choice. Ill keep an eye out for more!

Thank you very much! I will watch some tutorials on MODO for sure, I appreciate the recommendation. I noticed it’s also 41% off until Dec 21st . . . hmmm!
