“Demagogue and Mob.” The Left and the Right have their demons–as events of January 6 demonstrate. The right fears the “deep state and Antifa” being sicced on them while the Left is appalled at the storming of the Capitol Building. I generally do not do overtly political or current events related art. Political art bores me. It tends to be too covered in words, literally and figuratively, too specific to be enduring. Whether love, delight, spiritual or repellent, I believe sculpture should evoke a snapshot of some universal emotion. This is a design for a bronze sculpture, the model is about 14 inches high. A faceless demagogue in the mold of Hitler or Mao sends forth destructive, hate filled crowds under a false flag or values. The crowd itself consists of angry beings shaped much like the flames of the torches they bear. I did a model in modelling clay and then did it all over again on the computer in zBrush start to finish.
