Deep Paint 3D; Terrible

Has anyone else tried this? I gave up shortly after downloading the demo. I was referred to it as a friend, who used the words “It rules the world of texturing, far better than your z thingy you use”

Well, well, well I downloaded it, tried it, and damn is it terrible compared to Mr P’s Texture master.

i tryed it i like it.
it has alot of setting for your brushes ALOT.
i think you can even combin 2 or more textures…
its pretty good :+1: :+1:

hmmm, maybe I should have given it more than an hour or so… I’ll have another go later.

Deep Paint 3D is a completely different program from ZB and they do totally different things, furthermore they compliment each other and I use them together all the time.

For example, you would never compose or render a picture in DP3D, DP is strictly a texturing tool, after you have done your texturing you would take it back out to a 3D program for rendering. DP’s tight integration with Photoshop makes it a very powerful tool for doing realitic and accurate texturing. While ZB is more of an all-in-one solution, where you can experiment in real time with speculaity, reflectivity and so on. What I do is use Zbrush to make a great repeatable texture, then I bring it into Deep Paint and paint it onto the 3D model in the areas I want it.

Again they do many things that the other does not. DP is more of a tool to compliment and simplify the texturing tools of an existing 3D program, while Zbrush can be used independant of any 3D programs because it has advanced modeling/rendering functions built in.

I tried DP3D, as well, and wasn’t terribly fond of it. People complain about the ZBrush interface? Hah!

But seriously, there ARE things that DP3D will do that ZBrush won’t. But when I looked at things from a “bang for your buck” standpoint, ZBrush won, hands down.

If I had a job with a Hollywood studio, I might feel a bit different and want to invest the time into truly mastering what DP3D has to offer. But for my own needs, ZBrush and Photoshop do the trick nicely.

the name pretty much tells you what its for
(Deep Paint 3D) painting,and painting 3D object.
no comparision to zbrush but i like how it works for Painting 3D.
Best 3D Painting i know of unless some one else can post a Link to what they consider Best that Paint 3D.
Bill Fleming uses Deep Paint 3D some of the best work ive seen

Tried the demo but it kept crashing on me. :frowning:

i must admit ive tried the program and like it… however i didnt like the price tag for it…

I have the full program, but I’ve removed it from my computer, because I don’t feel it’s necessary any longer for me to use it…It is a great paint program however, for what it does…

Ditto to SC comments. I still have it but very seldom use it now.

I demoed DP3D with Texture Weapons.

If I had the cash, I’d buy that RIGHT NOW.

Personally, I loved it.

I’d buy Maya Complete, too.

I think it’s a pretty cool program, but VERY limited, if you compare it with Zbrush, and the bang for the buck for Z puts it WAY ahead of ANYTHING on the market.

Kathy, Maya Complete’s price was recently dropped from $7000 to less than $2000  Compared to the other full-on 3D proggies, it’s a steal! (unless you count Lightwave at $1595 now!) :ex:

DP3D with Texture Weapons is the way to go it has it in the new demo like Kathy use’s.
don’t try some thing for a hour and say i don’t like it unless you REALY give it a try.
hate to say it but i threw zbrush down when i was a newbie and after 2 months of runing the program not using 3D object and i didn’t know what EDIT MODE was for them 2 months i slaped my self in the head with a Hammer…
im glad i re picked it up…
you will like DP3D with Texture Weapons if you give it a chance and PLUS it will keep you from being bord sticking to one thing, :+1:
but the price is WAY OFF…
for that price i could buy me a Harley and have enough left over to buy 3 ZBrush programs LOL

Have to agree with EZ. I just downloaded demos for Bryce and Vue4. LOVE VUE4! Can’t quite get the hang of Bryce, yet, but I’m gonna keep trying. Seems like some really good features (no offense to ZBrush, still my one true love).

EZ; it’s funny you mention it; I downloaded the ZBrush demo a long long time ago. I took a look at it, played around a little, and then never touched it again. I didn’t even know It was a 3D modelling program.

Then much later down the track when I was doing some research on 3D applications, because I wanted to get into it, I read some magazines, and the word was all about this majecstic “ZBrush”

I visited the site, decided to purchase it straight out (I couldn’t remember downloading the demo earlier, since it was so long ago)

When I loaded it up I was like “oooooooooh I remember this thing”

Slosh, you’ll love Vue. My favorite programs are Vue, Poser and Z. The complement each other beautifully. I’ve tried the demo for Deeppaint. Didn’t understand it all, but it did look pretty cool. But I didn’t play with it long, I was afraid I would like it. The price tag is out landish. Also couldn’t see waisting my time learning it when I knew I couldn’t afford it. Only got so much brain space ~L~

LOL, definitely understand that! And you are right, I love Vue. I’m already planning on saving the money to buy it. In connection with ZB, I think I could use it to create scenery, then add modeling, etc. in ZB.

were can i get Vue 4 Trial Demo at?

The trial demo for Vue comes from www.e-onsoftware.com. I bought it back last year and its a good program, I just had troubles exporting textured files from Z to Vue. Pix is looking into that I sent him some files. They work okay if you export them to Poser first, but hopefully Pix may have sorted it in the next version and I shall be able to export straight to Vue. They just came out very dark in Vue and you couldn’t see detail

Both Deep Paint 3d and Z-Brush are excellent in there own right. I first used Deep Paint, and couldn’t do much with it. After I learned loads on Z-Brush, I went back to Deep Paint, and was painting like crazy. Z-Brush got me thinking more about depth channels and things like that. My opinion is for painting and texturing it has many features that Z-Brush offers, but it has a very Photoshop esque interface and style.

Of course, Deep Paint still isn’t nearly as cool as Z-Brush.
