Hey guys, here is the updated and added more detail to the deadpool model, hope i get some feedback now…
Hey Hanx, welcome to the ZBC community, your off to a great start. Deadpool is a wicked fun character, and it’s great to see him done in a different style. As for a critique, I would suggest flooding the character with one base color. That way we can see the model in its natural state, state and it will help out with possibly finding suggestions to make the end product better. Off the bat i would suggest defining the bicipital, brachiorodialis, and the palmaris/flexor muscles at the base of the bicep. Hope this helps out in any way. Keep up the good work.
Well I know next to nothing about comics but I can use google (this). I’m currently trying to learn some anatomy myself so I’m going to try to pass some random things along and see what sticks.
*I think the thing that really bothers me is the silhouette of the torso. The rib cage and the muscles wrapping around its sides appear to be jutting quite sharply from the body, which doesn’t seem to fit the broader body type you’ve gone with (slightly heavier build than the heroically thin comic book hero). Maybe widen out the abs and make them less uniform (they are almost never perfectly symmetrical).
*The top set of abs should be over top of the bottom of the rib cage so they might have a slightly more forward angle.
*Definitely measure your arms again. The seam on the suit makes it hard to tell how long the back of the upper arm is but the front definitely looks too short (if you were to bunch up his biceps, they’d be shorter than they are wide).
*Lifting the shoulders might help (maybe)- your trapezius seems too smooth, giving the impression of a loose hood rather than a tight mask. The clavicle should have a slight S shape and would be less consistently visible. They are essentially curtain hangers for the chest and shoulder muscles to grab onto so the depression beneath them can add some important details (though comics often exaggerate and lift out landmarks like that it’s good to know what you’re doing as you break the rules).
*Try to make your muscles look stretched over and across the body rather than simply laid on top of them. You can pinch together some of your chest’s creases and vary their width so they seem less like plates and more like bulging muscly goodness.
*Fix the nose. Pointier, less uniform width, whatever.
In terms of rendering, try to get a brighter material to make it easier to see some of the black area.
If you want some random areas to practice different things on your model (and who doesn’t?), definitely take a stab at wrinkles. The muscles are sculpted as if they were skin but the cloth pinching and bunching and stretching can add some nice details. You might also zoom in on the hands and block out their volume a bit better. Hands are always fun/impossibly hard (they’re more interesting to work on if you bend each finger a bit like a hand at rest rather than straight out). You could add some of his accessories to break up the form (belt, leg straps, swords and gun) too. Veins! Men in tights love veins and you don’t even have to know exactly what you’re doing, just grab a picture and go. Try lots of things but don’t keep them if they don’t work.
And don’t worry about views. The amount of views you get immediately is because it was on top of the list. I tried posting a few questions to the support forum and after a few days half the views were from me checking to see if I got any replies.
Keep up the good work!- is what a teacher would say. I’d probably just toss you a candybar and tell you to sit down and make more awesome. It’s more iconic that way.
Thank you so much for your response man, really appreciate the help,
also here is the preview with the suggested changes and definition
Well, thats a bunch of info and it will definitely be helpfull to me in future models… thank you very much for your feedback and also detailed info on the flaws so that i can fix them
as pointed out by “The Conundrical Preposter” the major changes were made to the model;
Both coloured and plain previews given for better details
some more added features and much better looking now
Ok, looks very good overall but here are a few things you could check out:
So that’s it for now, other than that it’s good to me.
EDIT: I know deadpool is a super here, and so this would be more optional depending on the style, but I think that you could hint at the oblique muscles, which may think the waist a bit, I don’t know for sure but just a thought.
well about the arms i will sure do that…
neck is thick cuz of his traps are large and are like bulging, therefore they are already reduced to an optimum level, also i agree ankles need work also …
thanks alot for pointers i cant thank you enough
No problem dude, I look forward to seeing more of it.
Hey man,
I hope you don’t mind, but I did a little paint-over and a side-by-side comparison of where I see most of your issues in regards to proportions/scale (please keep in mind, I did it very quickly, and is by no means accurate or 100% accurate; for instance, I still think the arms can be longer in the paint over that I did). But, I do hope that this is helpful and gets you going in the right direction!
There are more than a few areas where certain body parts are just too small and short. I think revisiting these areas will make it a lot easier to adjust the anatomy per other people’s advice.
Happy sculpting!
well… to be honest i get some proportions of the paint over but dude the whole look im going for gets ruined if i do that cuz the head is too big, legs too wide appart and i am making him muscular
that is why he is not that skinny… yet the hight and the arms can be longer i agree with that
No worries man, just my two cents…that is all. His head is definitely way too small currently, though.
thank you man i had a suspicion that it was small but i thought it was ok, but now as u have also noticed that… I increased the size of his head and changed some proportions of his body as well… also mad the neck slightly thin.
here is a side by side comparison:
hope its much better now
coming along - look at the helps now - my anatomy sucks so not much help there :o small_orange_diamond
hahaha true… and thanks again man you were the initiator of the help
