Cyborg Ninja Bust

Hey everyone Im new to ZBrush and had to teach my self the program because my college for VIDEO GAME DESIGN WONT GIVE US THE PROGRAM TO LEARN IT!!!

Anyway this is my first scupt and I think its coming out good so far. CyBorg Ninja from the Metal Gear Series is my favorite character of ALL TIME!

Please Leave feedback and I would seriously love some tips from all you vetern ZBrush guys!!!

I think you’ve gone for the detail way too early but then again thats what layers are for. Try making the shapes as individual objects then use the MRGBZgrabber to get an alpha/ or just make an alpha, drop your tool (projection master) and draw it onto your model. Do this on a new layer and then you can exagerrate it. Insert brush may also prove useful.
Hope this helps.

BTW very nice choice of character, keep going :+1:

Morph: Thanks for the help man:D I can kind of uderstand what you are saying but since Im so new to Zbrush your kind of speaking another language ha ha. I will definetly go over my notes about the mrgbgrabber cuz im not quiet sure that tool does.

By the way, awesome gallery man. I can see you know your stuff!!!

yea i have to agree you worrying about smaller details before you’ve established the main forms of the figure. Cyborg ninja was wearing a really pimp exoskeleton that really showcased his anatomy so spend some more time refinding the muscle structure at lower Sub-D lvls. Slowly work your way up and once your finally happy with the form start worrying about surface details like the little bolts, geometric designs and what have you. =).

Zbrush is a real beast and it takes some time to tame it, but once you do it’s going to be a friendship you’ll cheerish for life :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ctrl+S B4 U Save, thanks dude I’ve got some down time so there will be more updates soon.

I’ve attached a “walk through” of sorts maybe this can help your studies through the zbrush manual.
I taught myself ZB as have many, the new Scott spenser book is well worth getting and anything from gnomon.

look forward to seeing your progress on your model:+1:

Cheers

Zeth09: Thanks for the tip man. Im working off of the McFarlane Action Figure and the only part that really looks human is his neck and chest. And Im going to have the most fun on his back because it is a sick spine column!!!

Morph: Man you didnt have to go thru that trouble but I seriously appreciate it. That is an excellent walkthrough and I will be sure to put that in my notes! I will look out for those books and DVDs too!!! I kind of took a different approach (and it may cost me in the end). I actually used Mesh Extractions under the Sub tool! Is that good or bad???

Ok here is a small update! Like I said earlier I used mesh extraction to make the mask! Please feel free to comment!!!

getting the results is good:D, already looking better:+1:

Another small update! Im almost done and to be honest Im not looking forward to having to color this guy because I dont want to mess it up! Any tips on mapping and painting would be greatly appreciated! Im a nobe at this still!!!

If your not sure how to approach the painting and UV layout you could simply use zb 2.5D tools and pump out a few passes to later tweek in photoshop.
Then when it looks good import the photoshop image and take a matcap of it to use as the base material for your model, its quick and satisfing to have a finished artwork without the render issues/time!
btw nice progress:+1:
