Crosshair cursor

Have just run a script in which the author is modelling by using a draw size of 1 to move and shape polygons.
In trying to duplicate the actions two things are different.

  1. when I try it there is the brush size crosshair along with the red modelling dot.
Is there someway to turn the crosshair off and leave the red cursor.
Or does the script leave it off.
  2. Also the author had a very good " selection eye" and manipulates very skillfully individual polygons, when I do it
    the result is quite different.
Is this just amateur vs. experience or is there something I am missing.
Thank you in advance for what I am sure is either a foolish or elementary question.

Hi bcc39
I think this could help

1.-Press “show action and notes” in script panel to see step by step EACH ACTION is in the script.

2.-The way to work in individual poligon is working at ver high closeup (zoom) Press + to increase - to decrease or = to real view.

3.-When you work at high closeup, you can see that the red bottom ONLY is in each poligon vertice, so it allow you to be very precisely and individual poli control sculping.

I will make a script about this, to surpass my poor english’

Thanks friend bcc39

Andresloy:
Never, repeat, never apologize to me for the way you speak or write. (The same note applies to all those to whom English is not their prime language)

  1. Have you noticed all the posts that are trying to help me?
  2. I realize that for you to help, you have to basically translate a stupid question into
your own language, research the answer, and then translate it back to english.
    Basically triple work.
3.In threads sometime ago, I saw members bitching because non-english was used.
4.I am having difficulty believing that a member here would see a problem in French for instance,go to google, translate it, find the solution, retranslate it, post it, and then apologize for it’s contents.
You do this every day for everyone who has troubles.
You need never apologize for anything.
    My deepest thanks

Hi bicc
Take a look at my post on this page
That’s could be be help you
(other page of the thread also : it’s full of tricks
In resume for a very precise movement make a maxi zoom with “Alt clic + release Alt and drag move mouse” (around the canvas on the grey aera : it’s valuable for all manipulation in edit mode!
So you can move easily any edges !
And more easy when the Quick Mode and Pf are Enable !
Hope this help!
Pilou

Many thanks Pilou, as always.

ATTN PILOU: YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!
enlarge by gyro not zoom.
if you only knew the frustration
I have been having.
I owe you.

It is also possible the script author was using the Transform>Modifiers>XYZ constraints to limit movement to just the axes they wanted. They are very good for maintaining precise control in a virtual 3D environment.

Is there anyway to totally eliminate the cross hair cursor and leave the red one when modelling with a draw setting of one?
Frankly it is a pain in the ass.

I don’t know, I guess I’ve never noticed it.

Can you link to the script you are running so we can have a look?

Bonecradle, appreciate the help, and you speak English
I must admit referencing and I have yet to make friends but I will try.
If it fails, there is a thread by Ed Atom
called First Attempt at Adaptive etc, it is about 10 threads down.
There is a post by tjaden suggesting a tut he did called point modelling zip.
Will try the thread http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200402/user_file-1076503895jaw.zip
If it works it will be a first.
I thank you very much for your efforts on my behalf. I would like to think I am not as bad as I sound at this.

Hi bicc
It’s funny because I have answered for the same problem here !
But I don’t understand why it’s anoying ?
The only cross who can be reduce in the preferences are these of Multimarkers
Pilou
Ps And of course it’s not the zoom with the + or -
Training you with the Alt clic release Alt because it’s very speedy when you modelise in Edit Mode, you stay in place and don’t need of the gyro

Yeah, it’s an artefact of zscripts - the cursor, which would be the cross, is an arrow with a ‘z’ underneath it when running zscripts.

Just have to live with it I’m afraid. I guess I never see the crosshairs - just watch the red dot snap to vertices.

You have an excellent memory Pilou.
I had sent a pm to rtyer asking him about this.
He did not know the answer.
Evidentally he was nice enough to ask it for me.
I (we) thank you and am sorry you had to do double work. I did not see the original post.
I wish to underline my thanks, the best solution was to gyro rather than zoom
That proved to be the answer.
Try it the way I have been doing it.
Zooming and selecting or trying to select.
Life is much simpler now.
Thanks also Andresloy and Bonecradle.
At first I was embarassed to ask.
The net result made it worthwhile, many thanks your patience.
Merci
