Crocodile Character

Hey! This is my first thread on Zbrush Central. I recently took the Zbrush Class at FUTUREPOLY focusing on Character Modeling. I’m an environment artist, but for the sake of the course I decided to try a character. I’m still very new to Zbrush so I wanted to get more critique and tips before I continued on. So here is my attempt at a character and also my first zbrush sculpt.

I'd like to eventually add some armor or clothes and maybe a weapon or two in his hands. I haven't decided yet. Any Crit's or suggestions would be great! Thanks -

couple of more like these and you’ll have an arguemet to be a character artist. Wonderful, I like the sense of weight. Those scales are really something else, nice work.

Best Croc i have seen yet.

Haha! Very nice sculpt, sir!

love the depth your getting in his scales! How are you doing these renders? Looks like an intense cavity and AO hehe. Would love to see him polypainted

My only crit is with the render, might just be a personal taste but I’m not as into the pixel noise effect over the character. Otherwise its an awesome piece

Great model! Amazing detail. :+1:

lookin…cool…:):+1:

hahaha excellent! can’t wait to see him textured.

wooot…how are you doing the scales…they don’t look sculpted ( it will be insane to sculpt that )… they look like a bump map, and nice polypaint shading. am i right?

Great work for a first off…

keep it coming…

Ziggy

Thats great, get it shaded, lit and rendered and it’ll make top row.

Love this character, and awesome work on the scales  Would love to see him with some more interesting lightning.

Great sculpt! :+1:

Great work Eric! Sculpting all of those scales?! does your hand still work? anyway…we should get back to work.

I want your window seat! ha

Tip top, Eric! High fiiiiive. I agree though. How about some texturing? HM?!

Also whatever happened with the armor/weapons you had in class?

FramedWorld, AVBN5000, Cmoffitt -thanks for all the nice replys
KPtoons -The Renders are quick and simple mental ray AO from max.
grassetti, rad66203, scultor.zb, julien n, -THANKS! hopefully I’ll get to texturing him soon!
Moonlitmaverick-LOL, Infact I did sculpt every scale by hand using the clay and move tools. It took forever! I didn’t quite get the results I wanted with alphas, although I’m sure its possible and easier using other methods.
fleety, Storm, Nattawat_OBBI -Thanks! Glad you like it!
jjvdb15, thanks, but my window seat will never be yours! lol
Joe, thanks! and thanks for all your help on this. I’m still trying to figure out what to do for the weapons. I’ll post once I get something worth posting.

Eric, this dude rocks! paint em!!! TOP ROW!!!

Very cool croco and great work on the scales. You sculpted each by hand? Wow, you seem to be very patient.

Mate, thats just fantastic. Control of form especially over the scales is great. New to zbrush indeed…
