Clearing mask doesn't work although I follow docs

Hello!

I wanted to isolate a polygroup.

To do that, I tried the following:

First I painted a mask by LMB + Shift + LeftCtrl and drawing a rect onto my flower.
This hid all parts of the model except the rectangle that I drew.

Now I wanted to unhide everything.

I followed the docs at http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/3d-modeling/modeling-basics/masking/
It says:

Clear a Mask

Hold down the Ctl key and drag on the canvas outside the model. Any visible amount of dragging will do.

However, that doesn’t work.
Holding Ctrl and dragging on the canvas outside the model has no effect at all.

Holding Shift + Ctrl and dragging on the canvas outside the model returns in an inverted mask.

What am I doing wrong?

I simply want to get rid of the mask. :frowning:

This works, but I have NO IDEA WHY:

Hold Shift + Ctrl + Alt and draw a single point outside the model on the canvas.
Don’t create a rect, simple left-click on an empty space.
Do that twice.

This shows the model for me, but I don’t understand why.

I don’t see this mentioned in the docs.

You’re confusing Masking brushes with Selection brushes. The Docs you’re showing is for Masking, not Selection. “Ctrl” is used for Masking brushes and “Ctrl + Shift” is used for Selection brushes. What you originally used was a Selection brush to select part of the mesh. To unhide what you hid, all you had to do was hold “Ctrl + Shift” and click on an empty part of the canvas. To reverse the selection, you would hold “Ctrl + Shift” and drag on an empty part of the canvas.
