Chibi Spiderman

[SpiderSwing07.jpg]

Spidey-Chibi: created with Zbrush and Maya. I told myself I wouldn’t do a Spiderman. “jprart001” set the bar when he created his Spiderman. Everyone on Zbrush Central has done Spidey, or Wolverine, and/or the Hulk. After the 34th time of seeing the Hulk I told myself I wouldn’t follow the herd. When Pedro Delgado did Spidey-Chibi, [http://greatlp.deviantart.com/art/S-p-i-d-e-y-29462614](http://greatlp.deviantart.com/art/S-p-i-d-e-y-29462614) I was inspired. I had to do it. I started out with a basic block of polys. Brought that into Zbrush and sculpted away. In Zbrush I rebuild the typology. I was going to follow in “jprart001” foot steps and extract the suit’s webbing… only to find out the amount of polys crushed my computer. So I used Photoshop to paint in the webbing. After created a displacement map, I pulled the map into Photoshop, threw my webbing lines on top and got a nice displacement. I used nvidia’s Normal Map Photoshop plug-in to turn the black and white displacement into a normal map. Remember this is after a few days of trying to extract millions of polys to form the raised webbing. Background photo by wallg.
