Cannot change models material color or polypaint color

Hi all,

I was messing around with zspheres to make a simple worm/snake creature, eventually saved it as a ztl file. Somehow it ended up witht his very dark red color. So I tried to change it using the color icon in the bottom left area, nothing changes. I then checked the polypaint settings. I tried to color the model green but the large main window where the model is shown does not change but colored paint is applied because I can see the green color reflected in the small icon in the upper right. See attached screen capture for what Im talking about. I know I can remake it pretty quickly but I would like to know if its a simple setting or hotkey I pressed so I can fix it next time. Thanks.

There’s color and there’s material. Once you’ve made an adaptive skin, it could be considered a model/mesh. Lots on the Forums where this has been covered. And there’s the docs. Link in my signature, almost all the information a user could want and it even has a search box.

First things first, check for a mask that may need to be cleared first.

If there is no mask present and the behavior remains, check that a texture isn’t applied (textures override polypaint, and have their own material).

If that doesn’t work you could try exiting edit mode and clearing the document. Make sure the Z intensity and RGB values are set to 100 before redrawing the tool.

And lastly, if all else fails, see if you can export the model as an OBJ and reimport it, or see if the ‘MakePolymesh3d’ button results in a clone that you can work off of.
