Can you rename and delete tools from the tool palette?

This is probably a stupid question, and more than likely a workflow issue where i’m not “thinking the Zbrush way” :stuck_out_tongue:
But is there a way of getting rid of the multitude of tools that can accumulate in the tool palette? For example, say i have a mesh with 6 sub tools and i use the “make1mesh” script, i end up with tones of clones and it starts getting a bit cluttered imho. Is there a way to get rid of all those cloned meshes from the palette? i no longer need them so they serve no real purpose other than to take up space.

secondly is it possible to rename the tools? Cause often i’ll extract something or make something a Polymesh3D and it will just get some generic ZB name. This is ok when you have few tools but like in a situation like above it can get confusing fast.

Whats the best way to deal with this type of situation, atm i just restart ZB, which seems like a far too drastic way of doing it lol.

yes to both questions

there’s a rename button in the palette - just select your tool and rename it.

to delete, just select that subtool and delete it - there’s a button for that as well [be careful not to delete the mother tool at the same time, sometimes it happens

edit: sorry I just realized you were asking about the main tools  [go me ;)] - you can rename them the same way, using the subtool palette… as for deleting, hmm not sure actually if it’s possible

hey Intervain, thanks for the reply

haha, yep i did mean the main tools, sorry should have specified

So no way to delete them eh, that seems a bit of an oversight on Pixologic’s side
Well at least being able to rename them will help me organise them better.

The only way to delete tools from the tool palette is to initialize ZBrush (press Preferences>Init ZBrush), which will delete all of them.

If you use SubTool Master to merge subtools you won’t have a load of clones.

thanks for the clarification marcus_civis

well then my little sugestion to Pixologic is they add a “delete” button to the tool palette lol, but maybe the lack of such a feature is all part of the greater unseen master plan

I’ll look into subtool master asap!

if you just want the tools deleted from your quick selection tool palette you can click on the little “R” on the lower right, it removes everything but the default tools and the selected tool. It doesnt’ remove them from the expanded selection palette though

Thanks Goast666! Thats exactly what i wanted to do
