I got windows vista last night because i’ve read people using it have less problems with zbrush. I’m new to vista, and it does run, but i have to RMB go to run as admin EVERY TIME…does anyone know how i can click on a desktop shortcut and it still run without all that hassle? Hope someone can help me. thanks in advance.
Right clicking the ZBrush executable and selecting properties will allow you to set “Run as Administrator” once and for all.
Btw, in case you were wondering, they are quite nice but the beer and sausages are highly overrated.
Though you’d have to approve it if you got UAC on. To disable UAC, go to Control Panel > user accounts > Turn user account control on or off.
After that Vista will keep complaining that the system is not safe and you got to enable UAC.
Disable the warning by going to control panel > Security Center > Change the way security center warns me > Don’t notify me and don’t display the icon. (not recommended)
But if you got a sufficient anti virus and firewall, I think it’s safe to turn these off.
… I can hear a “Ha-ha” from a faint distant mac user…
The security situation is not gonna improve on Windows until they put their foot down about programs needing root privs. They should have bit the bullet ( Vista was in development long enough ) and told the vendors NO. The beta was long enough the other vendors should have been able to figure out how to make their apps work non-admin.
