Bridging Error

I am having trouble using the 4R7 Bridging tool. I am bridging an equal number of faces together. The result looks ok until I try using Dynamic SubD then I get an error message saying there are 40 edges sharing more than two polygons, use Fix Mesh. I select Fix Mesh and get an OK message. Dynamic SubD again and the new polys are all stretched out and not welded properly. I have had this work before using the same technique.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Moderator, can you move this to the trouble shooting section? thank you.

Hi VoxelTron,

Tried a different method to yours, seemed to work out fine.

Wyattfox,
Thank you! That was an excellent solution. Not only did it create the geometry I have been looking for but it taught me some new methods.
I did have to add one step you your workflow: Once the pink polys are selected, add another polygroup by holding down Ctrl+Shift> Drag up and release.
Then drag out one more polygroup to do the flattening operation on. I see from your screen shots that you must have done this step also.
Doing this allows the polys to be straight and square; if you done do this, the corner polys form triangles and you can’t add the upper edge loop.

I did not get the error this when using Dynamic Subdiv.

Thanks!

Your welcome, yeah I did miss writing out that step. Glad the pictures helped! With ZBrush I’m learning something new every day

Cheers

Wyattfox, It looks like you are using the mah_dirty_blue material. Are you in Tomas’s Jewelry Class?

Can’t say I am. It is just the poly group colour that came up while demonstrating.
