Before The Battle

hi,

Maybe you have seen my previous work called “After The Battle”? If not you can see it here: http://keraj37.cgsociety.org/gallery/862084/
It shows mutated human after the battle where he was changed to mutant.
This image “Before The Battle” is prequel of that work. It shows human before the battle, but already starting to mutating, what can be seen on his skin.
I have used these softwares to produce this work: Modeling in 3ds max and zbrush. Texturing in photoshop. Rendered in maxwell 1.7. Postproduction in photoshop.

The materials for his shoulderpads is really nice, and I like his expression. However, the image is totally broken by all the noise in his face. If it is an intentional effect to show his “transformation” then I think you should find another way. It just looks like you went nuts with the noise tool.
Don’t mean to be harsh, there are some very nice qualities in your image (maxwell does the trick;) ). I would just looks the noise.

Looks beautiful but I agree with the comment regarding the surface texture of his skin.

Did you use a reference for his face because he reminds me of the actor Max von Sydow (King Osric in Conan) …either way he is very nicely sculpted.

That was an enormous improvement!! The lips could use some separation, and the bags under his eyes are a little big perhaps… But otherwise much much better!

Amazing. Love this piece - The eyes totally make it!

No neck? Also, the edges of his helmet have some straight edges which reveal it as CG. You should fix those if you’re going for photo realism.

Mutch better on the skin texture :wink:

Good spots by the other guys on the helmet edges, lips and neck, very subtle things but now they have been mentioned they stick out like a sore mutated thumb :smiley:

…Will his thumbs mutate too?
