BackFace Mask

Hi,

Is BackFace Mask features in zbrush 3.0? If so, where does it locates? I do not find it under Brush. There’s Cavity Mask but not backfaceM.

I found the BackFace Mask there( using search), it mentions under Brush, but when I check on my version 3.0, is not there…I wander if the search file combines zb version 3.0 n 3.1. Anyone?

Many thanks!

Anyone can provide some pointers regarding the question I pop? I’m sure most of u who are veterans in zbrush can help me on this…Anyone?

Backface masking is only available in ZBrush 3.1. If you are using 3.0 you should upgrade. If you are using 3.1 it is in the Brush palette, below Cavity masking.

Speaking of back face masking, I am trying to sculpt some threads on the pant legs on my model and I want to have the whole thing go around the leg like real thread, but it is tough to do it…what is a fast way to do this…?

I don’t know that there’s a quick way. I’d paint a mask as a guide (Ctrl+drag to paint a line around the leg then invert the mask), then use the Lazy mouse to get an even line -assuming you are using a brush like the ‘stitch’ brushes.

Yup, I am using the stitch brushes just to create the stitches and everything…believe it or not my hands are definitely not steady… I tried this with a mask (by painting the thread pattern as a mask), but it was hard to go around the whole leg without rotating the viewport.

I will definitely try the mask approaching again differently… if that doesn’t work, I may as well paint the threads into my normal map…

Thanks Marcus…

P.S.: I am fairly new to ZB but have played with ZB2…

thank you for answering!
