Hi all, I’m fairly new to zbrush and this is my first post to ZBC. The axe is based on warhammer online concept art. My goal is to learn hard surface sculpting for weapons, armor and environments. I plan to paint and render with zbrush and photoshop. The base mesh was modeled in maya, shadowbox was also used to create some smaller parts. Any and all comments or critiques are welcomed.
very nice, you could put some explanation on what texhniques you uswed for it
The base mesh was modeled in maya 2011 then brought into zbursh. some of the smaller decals on the blade were made with shadow box and custom alphas. The slash and clay tubes brushes were used to sculpt in the chips and damage on the blade along with morph targets and the morph brush to fine tune chips. Other custom alphas were used for the handle detail and dwarf logos on the hilt. (Radial symmetry and lazy stroke worked perfectly). Poly paint was used to block in the base colours and spotlight was used to layer on details with some textures from cgtextures. I’m not very familiar with the material system in zbursh but my goal is to render out a wide variety of passes and comp in photoshop.
This is an excellent start/midway point. Better then me fo sho
Rendering and texturing was done in zbrush and photoshop was used to comp. Any crits and tips are more then welcomed. Hope you enjoy!
Would you mind posting a pic of the basemesh. I was trying to do a sword and, as stupid as it sounds I was having all sorts of problems with the sharp edges and trying to retopologize in zbrush. Just wanted to get an idea. Great job on the details and renders.
