When I was a kid, I was obsessed with Marvel trading cards. Marvel Masterpieces were my favorite. The artwork was inspiring. Julie Bell, Joe Jusko, Boris Vallejo blew my mind with their work. Their style is what I kind of wanted to capture with this Archangel. And I love the concept of Archangel. I don’t know if he’s my favorite character in the universe, even though he’s pretty interesting, but he’s definitely one of my favorite designs.
The body was modeled in ZBrush. The wings were modeled in ZBrush and Maya. Rendering in ZBrush. Compositing done with ZBrush and Photoshop.
