Hi,
Does any know about the history of Zbrush? do anyone
know the meaning for the letter “Z” in Zbrush?
according to wikipedia I came to know its related to the Z axis,
But the truth is, it is nowhere related the Z letter in Zbrush, So
it has some other meaning for sure.Guys please help me.
Actually, the “Z” DOES refer to the Z axis. Here’s why:
ZBrush started as a 2.5D paint program and in fact the features that you use today stem from that beginning. Many of ZBrush’s features are only possible because of the 2.5D technology (and some amazing programming :)).
When you draw anything on the canvas, you’re drawing pixols. Even the polygons in a model will become pixols if you snapshot the model to the canvas. You’ve heard of pixels before. Technically, they record the X,Y coordinates of the color point and its RGB value. ZBrush’s pixols take that quite a bit farther by adding in orientation, material and the Z axis.
So when you’re painting with ZBrush, you’re painting with depth. For that reason, “Z-axis Brush” is a very accurate name for what the software does. But ZBrush is a lot catchier. ;)
Even i was thinking of it… But now i got a clear explanation from you…
Thank YOu…
