Answered: Setting Up Image Planes in Zbrush 4.0

I just recently got Zbrush 4 and I can’t seem to find out how to setup image planes in the new version. Can someone help me out? Thanks.

If you click the Tool heading in LightBox you’ll see a folder for ImagePlane. This folder contains the ZTL files of the various image plane options including the ImagePlaneX and ImagePlaneCube. Both of these also have accompanying PSD files that are the texture templates for their respective models.

Load the template in Photoshop and put your reference images on the appropriate places. Save the file. In ZBrush, select that ImagePlane model that you’ll be using and draw it on the canvas. You’ll probably want to turn on Tool>Display Properties>Double. Now import into the Texture palette your PSD file that you created. Apply it to the model using the thumbnail in the Tool>Texture Map menu.

Append as a new SubTool whatever base model you’re going to sculpt with. Turn on Transparency and turn Ghost off.

You’re now ready to sculpt.

I was also wondering the same, with your help i have finally worked it out thanks man I will say it even if the original asker hasnt

You can also use the Image Plane 4 plugin.
