Animated Morph Target

Hi.

Is possible to animate and export a morph target transition to be used on Maya. In this video you can see the use of the morph layer and it would be cool to export the morph as an animated transition.

Cheers.

I don’t use Maya, but i think the Maya Blend Shapes plugin in ZBrush is what you want.

Hi.

Thanks for the reply and link to the tutorial, great information.

But my question is about how or it is even possible to export an animated transformation from layers, into some sort of geo cache formats like MDD or something similar. Please check the pic.

It’s surely simpler to set up the animation in Maya but you can export an MDD file from ZBrush:

Set up the TimeLine Camera track for the beginning and end of your Movie then:

  1. Select the Layer you want to use.
  2. Set the Intensity slider to 0.
  3. Click the TimeLine at the point you want the transformation to start.
  4. Set the Intensity slider to 1.
  5. Click the TimeLine at the point you want the transformation to end.
  6. Click Movie>TimeLine>ExportName and save the file to the location you want. This sets the MDD file name, it doesn’t actually create the file.
  7. Record the Movie by setting the TimeLine cursor to the start and then Shift+Ctrl+clicking it to start recording.

At the end of the recording the MDD will have been saved.
