Angry face

Hi people

I´m working on another illustration with another warrior as the main subject :). This time i want to work more on the facial expression to give him more life. I have not decided yet how it all will end, but i have clear that the face should look very good :).

This is what i have after a few hours of work. I modeled a basic mesh in 3dsmax and I exported it to zbrush.
I´m using myself as reference, but i´m not trying to copy me

I’m planning to add much more detail, but now i need some help. Firstly i was thinking in doing the teeth and the head in the same zbrush session, but now i have changed my mind and i want to delete them (green in the image). How can i do it?

Thanks for your comments!

Nice start! Good luck with your project.

Save as an obj, open in 3dsmax, delete the teeth and patch up the gap. Or, in ZB, hide the teeth, make sure the model is at the lowest res level (or delete the lower ones) then delete the hidden polys (in the Tool > Geometry menu). Still have to patch up the gap that will result. Or, the simplest thing is the thing I haven’t thought of, which some clever clogs will mention in a minute.

Thanks!!

Since the teeth were an independent object, with the delete hidden it has been solved
Thanks a lot!!!

Here is very quick render test. Two lights and fast skin material. No GI or HDRI yet… More coming soon!

Oh, as always i forgot the ears! Grrr! Well, since he will be long haired it is not very important

so nice i looooove the expression on his face:D:+1:

Hi people

Here is another update of the whole scene. I find here a lot of imaginative people, and maybe you could help me here.
I´m not sure if i´m going the correct way. For the past images i´ve made, composition has been very difficult for me. I need to be better on that field, so i ask for your help. My idea of the composition is a very rude barbarian facing the camera. Armor, clothes of fur, chains, maybe an arc on the back… So lots of elements to make him look alive. No more characters because what i want is to work on zbrush and lighting, so if I focus in one character it will be faster to work.
What i need is to know what do you think about the composition i show you in the attached image. Does him look good?

Your oppinion is important to me, so i´ll keep up posting updates until the end, whatever it will be.

Thanks and excuse my vocabulary, i´m very tired !

Yesterday I was so busy at The Real World ™ but today i expect to have more work done.

Still lots to do

I’m not very sure people is interested in this thread, but i´ll keep up posting. I was expecting more feedback that could help me to make him look good, but well, no problem.

Here is a sketch of what the armor should look like before starting the modeling. The hair and the beard will depend on how they look on 3d :stuck_out_tongue:

See you later.

Right now i´m working all the time in 3dsmax, but i plan to return to zbrush to add displacements and textures where needed.

See you later

I like the one on the left more because hes almoust staring at you as if you where is enemy, and that makes that you live the image with more intensity.

Edit: man, i must be going crazy, i saw those imagens side by side not one above the other lol. So if its not on the left its on top in any case its allways the first image (unless you are japonese and read from right to left)

1st (top) - from the sideone for sure!

hey man you work is very nice, im a fan of conan the barbarian, and i want to do somethink like you shows here. ican,t understant how you modeling the body beggining with a basic forms. do you used a independent layer, for every element or how you do?, or you uses multimarkers …my level of z-brush is so basic i cant understand this can you tell me about is?
for last…can you explain how you do the armadure? if is piece by piece etc…
thanks for your response, excuse my english, my natal language is spanish.
:+1:

Excellent work. I have no idea how you can make it better. I prefere the picture before the last one. It has more tension. In the last picture he’s fully turned towards the viewer as if a conflict is unavoidable or in progress. The picture before that is more tense as he’s on the move towards the viewer/camera and creates the idea of ‘ok, if I’m fast I can still get away… or DO SOMETHING gahhh.’ LOL

Cheers!

really cooooool !!!
wow :grimacing: :+1:

Very good image, i prefer the top image (almost full), i hope to see more. Top row indeed :+1:

Hello!

I was starting to think that no one would like to comment on this  Thanks a lot! I really need your comments to make him better.

After some more hours i have this:

There are several elements i want to model before going back to zbrush, but i plan to texturize and make displacements this weekend (maybe i´ll start in some hours!). I´m working very hard to finish him before the monday  That is my deadline and if nothing interrupts me i hope to do it  Still lots to do on materials, textures and hair (uff!). Right now there is a very simple light setup. I´ll work on it later. So many things to do!!

I think i´ll work on the two cameras until the very end  I like both versions and with the sword it looks cool (i think :D) The main problem is that with the sword in the front lots of torus from the chain are lost :frowning: I should plan things better before modeling.
The only thing i´m not really sure at all is the helmet. I think it looks good, but i want to make him long haired, and that it the main idea…i´ll see later

GLmig: Yup, yesterday i saw both images side by side too, btw, i´m spanish

DAVESTEEL: I´m not working it all inside zbrush. I model in 3dsmax and refine elements in zbrush (textures, displacements)

Thanks a lot for your comments!
