Anatomy Alien thingy for 3dPrint

Yep, I recently joined the Academy of fine Arts in Nuremberg as a Student and found out that they have a 3dPrinter which we all are free to use (nobody really does it, though…) and so I decided to try sculpting something that I would like to have standing on my Desk.
I have to say I normally Sculpt/Model for Games only, so I dont have much experince with sculpting Poses and how the Muscles deform in these poses.
Another thing to mention is that I didnt want him to uberdetailed since it would probalbly not come out as good in the print and so I tried to create a believeable Anatomy and a nice dynamic Pose. Im gonna go in and do a final detail pass (like bringing out some of the Muscles fibres on the pectoralis major and the deltoid), but before doing so I wanted to post it here to see if you guys find some things in the form which you dont like.
Personally I think the Biceps/Triceps Area on the oustretched Arm as well as the Back and the Head/Cheeks need more attention before moving on.
So some Comments would be nice  (hope you have read this far Oo)

I like the hands
But not his 10-pack, you should work more on his rectus abdominis, it does not look good.
And also the upper attachment of the quadriceps muscles, it looks really weird, the indents on the hips almost looks like some kind of old injury to me
Also the knees are a bit too well defined.
I hope that helped some:)

I think your model and pose looks great. The nice thing about the character is he is not human, so he cant be perceived to have the same anatomy as us humans. All he needs now is fine detail. keep it up and hope to see the complete model.

Now Im no anatomy expert… But I think you should slow down and really recheck yours. And the proportions as well.
-The hands(fingers) and feet seems too large.
-The abdomen is too long, belly button is too low.
-Upper Arm Muscles need adjusting
-Leg muscles need adjusting too.

While its always better to use real life as a reference…Check out yours against one of David Giraud’s (Lil’Sister) works. *I hope you dont mind David  I’ll only leave it up for a little while.

Hey there, I think you might have fallen into the ‘too many subdivisions too soon’ trap and ended up with a lumpy model.
You mentioned that you dont want your model to be ultra-detailed, and if that’s what you’re going for it’s absolutely critical to get underlying form looking as good as possible in as low a subdivion level as possible.

Ok Guys, thanks a lot. I think the only thing I did not adjust and you mentioned is that the Pectoralis Major is starting too high. Hope you like it and give me more input
He is at 330K Polys btw

I am far from an anatomy expert, but the area behind the knees looks odd, and I did notice you fixed the area where the upper thigh meets the pelvic bone. Again, if I knew anatomy I would not be using words like upper thigh and “area behind the knees”…I wish we had a free to use 3D printer. Looking forward to your final render:+1:

Thanks for the Comment. I changed quite a few things this time. I refined the Hands, the Deltoid area, the knee area and obviousely the Head (which was I think the thing that bothered me the most).
I think there is still some work to do and I would really enjoy seeing your Comments and Critiques on him

Ok Guys, Im calling the Sculpt done now.
I did a quick Composition.
Ill post some pictures of the Print once its done (one or two weeks).
Would still like to get some more comments  Please

Did he use glue down there?
Keep it up

Alright, here we go with the Print. Unfortunately, it broke in several plaves when i took it out of the printer and i wasnt able to find the Finger of the back hand. It also has a layered structure (because of the way the printer works but its not as bad as it looks on the photos) which I dont really like.
But overall its amazing to touch a sculpture that you spent so much time working on on the computer.
Hope you like it  (photos are pretty bad, but whatever…)

free 3D printing nobody uses? world went crazy!!

anyways that’s a great idea! Good model, good jobb!!
