Ambient Occlusion in current ZBrush

Hi
Is it broken? I get just pure whirte.

Thanks Anybody.

Works for me.

yeah, it just worked for me with the same model you posted. I tried with a sculped plane anfd got pure white. Any ideas why?
Thanks

I think it has something to do with the fact that a plane is only one sided and has no thickness. If you extracted the plane or made it a morph target difference mesh, which would give it a bit of thickness, then AO would probably work.

I think your object needs some depth for AO to work properly.

I think the main issue is that there is not an AO shader for renders. Now, I know shaders per se are not the way to go, given that they are a per pixel effect based on camera and/or light rather than a proper GI solution.

Al lot that I have seen says to use the flat white “Standard Material”, rather than a shader, as this would be the best base and get true GI. But I never can seem to get it to do anything and I need to fudge it with a (unsuitable) shader.
