I’ve been trying to create my own alphas recently (procedure=3d plane+ sculpt +grabdoc)
but whenever i apply them they always have a raised middle and usually a sharp fallout around the edge of the alpha, how can i avoid this as i’m trying to create quite sharp technical detail for a prop.
you need to adjust your mid value of your alpha to what you consider “flat”. When making 3D alphas it is best to only work in either a positive or negative direction, so you can just set your mid value at either 0 or 100.
You can find your value by color picking your alpha though, so it isn’t a big deal.
i didn’t understand a lot of that, what’s my ‘mid value’ and how do i change it?
and that last sentence i really don’t have a clue about,
sorry, when it comes to creating stamps i’m pretty damn newb.
Hope this helps
That helps a lot!!
I don’t really know what all that grabbing colour swatches bit was about, but now i understand how to set the ‘mid value’ i didn’t realise it was just a slider. thanks, works fine now.
Do i need to know what that RGB bit is for? is it just to measure how deep it is, like the higher the number the deeper inset the alpha?
Thanks for the tip Beta!
OH! but the other question, how do you choose a direction to place it?
I know it will follow the direction of the mouse/pen, but sometimes i want it to just stay at one angle while i move it around, is there any manual way to set the angle of it?
I know about colour picking, i just didn’t know what it has to do with creating alphas.
Thanks for the tips though mate
