After Dynamesh, the model get a lot of holes

Hi guys, I am newbie on Zbrush and trying my first model.
I am making a cloth for my model and get the dynamesh issue.
I am already stuck on this issue for a month and no idea how to fix it.

  1. Here is my original model

  2. After dynamesh, it add one more layer automatically.

  3. When I remove that layer, the original one have many line holes

I tried to use “Pinch” brush to close hole as it mentioned on the “AskZbrush” video.
Then dynamesh again, but it hang up every time.

I also tried to re-create the whole sub-tool but the same problem still exist.

Really appreciate if anyone have a idea for advise.

Hello @cheukie100

Sorry you’ve been having some trouble!

Dynamesh works best on meshes that are closed volumes with a bit of thickness. By default, Dynamesh will attempt to close any holes on an open ended mesh.

The two easiest ways to quickly add some thickness to a 2d piece of geometry are:

  • Perform a Mesh Extract on the entire mesh at desired thickness.

  • If low enough poly, use ZModeler with Polygon > QMesh> All Polygons on the target mesh.

You can delete any unwanted geometry after the sculpting process if desired.

Hi @Spyndel

Really appreciate for the advice!!
After extract the cloths sub-tool once more time, this issue is fixed!!

Since the original one is extract from the body sub-tool, does not realize need to extract again for the thick.

So happy I can keep going for the this.
