Yeah it is surprisingly hard to get feedback some times. I like how your hammer is coming, the hair is not working out so well. try using the clay tubes brush with a wedge alpha with a really small brush. it takes for every but you get some nice hair. Also check you anatomy it looks off, it needs more refined forms. over all its coming along.

thnx a lot envision i have refined the anatomy…and the hair…

UPDATE OF DRONA…

Hey neozerahan!

I know it’s hard to get replies sometimes, same for me often, but don’t ever be discouraged. You’re still in early stages dude I’m sure that soon enough you will be making great works. It’s a good start! :sunglasses: :+1:

Just keep practicing m8 but for now the most important thing for you to learn to do (besides technical techniques etc) which is far more important than detailing, is form. You must practice to get the overall shapes and masses and figures right. Make sure the silhouette is good, take LOTS of REFERENCE and practice sculpting from there, especially anatomy, over and over again till you get it right with muscles connecting well and with good masses etc. Make sure your designs are clear etc. Practice is key, so is reference and persistence, never give up! And you’ll get there. By the time you’re good at that the detailing shouldn’t be a problem and you can get creative.

Also a suggestion would be that you watch tutorial videos of the masters and how they sculpt, either by watching timelapses or if u got money to spare, which is really the main way in which I learnt everything in CG, purchasing tutorial videos from gnomonology or the gnomon workshop etc. If you need me to refer you to some help in something specific just ask

Of course like you I’m also just a student m8, and I’m learning too. It’s a journey, but keep going m8 you’ll get there, you’re still young, like me

I swear you should see some work I did 1 year ago, it sucked compared to my newest work lol, I mean compare these and look at the improvement from the first to the second lol:

Namaste neozerahan,

You are having a very classic problem case of model management and being too ambitious. It is pretty clear that you know some anatomy. However you need to master both anatomy and the tools to make impressive work of art.

-Before making any fantasy characters you need to study human anatomy. Human anatomy is basis for all arts pretty much. Knowing anatomy will let you advance faster.

-Do not model complex characters like these in the beginning. You should model stuff from nature and choose more simple subjects. For example you can try modelling a snail or a fish. You might think that these are insignificant subjects. But this is a very good study to understand real modelling process.

-At this stage never go over subd level 2. You need to get basic forms right first. Work over big shapes, once in a while squint your eyes and check your model.

-There is no problem with putting reference images in the background. Use this method until you feel comfortable.

-Get your hands on some anatomy and drawing books. There were some free pdf books online like “Andrew Loomis - Figure drawing”. Try to search online you should be able to find a pdf version.

I know you want people to talk about your current work and my remarks may sound unrelated. But commenting on your current work wont do much good to you. I would say they are good for a beginner, you have a good start. But if you try to follow my points above, you will get better quickly.

ok done with it…

now its u tallented peoples job to tel me howz it lookin!!!

its done!!!

pls tel me howz it???

Hello neozerahan.

I have to agree with kursadk in a lot of things. Specially about the complexity of this project.

I will try to be more precise on the things that can be improved. Pretty much all I am going to say it’s about anatomy and about studying how things work in real life.

  • First of all your character is symmetric, you need to incorporate more differences. Different folds of the clothing, Different tension of muscles, etc.

  • Reference. Look for reference for the boots or shoes. Right now they look that they are modeled out of the top of your head. Also look for reference for the clothing. Right now it’s not defined. Look also for reference on how it behaves, how it folds, where it wrinkles, etc.

  • Anatomy. The muscles in your arms are off. Specially the fore arm. Proportions of the hand are off. Proportions of the neck and anatomy of it it’s off too.

  • Reference for the weapon. How it’s built. Right now it just looks like it has a tube going through everything.

Good luck and hope this helps

My last suggestion is that you should stay away from “standard” brush and only use move for a while in the beginning.

as my anatomy is weak i have made this model inorder to study the same…
pls check it out…
and tel me the mistakes and area wer i can improve…

and have even made a head…again a study…

hi neozerahan,

your stuff looks pritty good for a beginner.

What i would say is go back to basics kursadlk gave some good advise in staying at a lower level and developing form.
I’m also learning at the moment and the things that have helped me the most was:
getting into anatomy both drawing and medical (the old style di vinci stuff is most useful)

sticking with just a bust to improve heads as this will force you to focus on the shape of the head rather than just roughing it in, then moving on to the rest of the body.

Watching time lapses from some of the amazing artists around here on ZBC then trying to replicate it.

as for your model (in the latest post) i cant comment too much as im still learning myself but a few things that look wrong in my opinion are:

the strenomastiod appears to be coming from slightly the wrong place and is also a bit to pronounced (this does not matter so much with your model as he is so muscular)

the hands are very large and thick perhaps smooth them out and make them flow into the arms a bit better.
Most of the muscles are there however some do need tweaking a bit and smoothing them back would help to give the character a more natural look.

Hope this helps in some way and good luck

thnx alot for ur advice…

wel…i had bymistake made a new thread for the old man face study…
heres is the update of the guy…
its a study so i guess cant say if its over or not…
pls comment if possible

Hi

Just you know thou if you are not going to listen advices you should not ask for advices  I tried to explain to you that you should stay away from faces and bodies for a while, at least until you master the tool. Best way is to work with simple shapes and topics before getting into complex stuff like body or face

I am hoping that you would slow down and take some advices seriously here

But if you are dying to model a head, try this one (seriously).

once again its not to bad for a begginer, however the wrinkels dont flow in quite the same way as a real face. if your not already you should try to use photos as a referance; after all we are just trying to replicate reality (which seems kinda odd realy maybe we should all just by a camera and save our selfs the work:p )

3d.sk is a good place to start but if your strapped for cash then just finding a celeb with a simerla face to what your going for should do the trick.

there is a free demo head on Gnomon which is good to start with, and the free male model by NickZ on this forum is also worth a look as it may help you see how best to start your own models or as a base to get some practice on.

I wouldn’t say a noobs work.
