A hundred heads challange

This is a personal challenge to sculpt a hundred heads in 2 months without compromising quality. I ll start with this one from 2 days back. If i am to make it 2 days is too long. I am new to sculpting and I need a lot of critique.

ummmmmmmmm … Is there a reason why you want to make a hundred heads in two months? You got to watch out the difference between quantity and quality. If I were you, I’d chose quality unless if it was just fast sketches. By all means, good luck in your practice.

cheers

This reminds me of a thread on a “real life” sculpting forum I’m a member of. A fellow there set a goal for himself to sculpt a small head a day, and at the end of the week he updates the thread with his week’s worth of heads. A real treat to see when he updates because he’s got a great imagination and some skill with sculpting in chavant and other materials.

It’s a good challenge and should teach you alot about sculpting. Biggest thing is to stick with it, even if you’re not feeling like you want to do it, do it anyway!

Let’s see critique, I’m not big on critiquing personally unless something stands out immediately to me and nothing really jumps out at me here other than the ears are a pressed too close to the head, they should almost always stick out more from the head. It’s a common mistake to make. You have them laying flat against the head and they would be better to fan out some more. Maybe the forehead is sloping back a bit too much as well. Could be, hard to say from this angle.

Ok best of luck and have fun learning, don’t give up.

Like you always say Eiad, “practice makes perfect” With this studies I hope to improve my understanding of the head structure. I intend to keep these studies scientific so as to have a solid foundation for creative stuff.

Extra D thanx a lot man.Ill read your post when running low on fuel. you are right about the anatomical errors, especially the ears. The next sketches will have good ears.

The second head study. Its end of term here and a bit hectic. Guys more crit please.

Enjoying your thread alot so far…:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:
I like the mood that your models face projects…
Great to set goals like you have done.
It’s like playing a musical instrument…daily practice keeps the instrumemt and the player in tune…:+1:
A small suggestion, ignore it if it does not apply to what you are after.
You might add a little to the height of the dome of the skull,…The eyes are usually at the halfway mark from the top of the skull dome and the bottom of the chin…Just a passing thought that may be useful to you…

I think the challenge ins sculpturing this ****'s head would be to translate and maintain those very expressive lines in a sculpt.

Guys help me here I am on my next model. somehow my mesh is not perfectly symmetrical. and it crashes zb when i try masking. Is there a way of fixing the symmetry without pulling vertices or sculpting.

Hello! it was because his model for be unbalanced! try to go on, Tools, Deformation, then you select half of the model is correct, and click the Smart Resym it should work! =)

Thanx 3dzeiro it worked like magic. Now I can present the third head. I have raised the dome and spread the ears just like you guys suggested. Please give more critique.
