3D Toy vinyl

Hi there,

This is my first internet post of any kind for me.

As many others I’m just fascinated by 3D printing. So I thought to share my project process.

I have a good friend who is into designer toys. I’m joining him on a trip to Seoul (Korea) and England where he will show his work.
As a joke just and to try something new, I made a designer toy as-well. The first time holding one of my works in hands, very cool.

I printed it quit ruff, which was still pretty expensive if you ask me.
Because of the nature of the material and color it looks very nice (straight from the printers):

However it took a lot of sanding and spraying to get writ of all the lines:

Here are some pictures of the finessed print:

I will post some more final images after the Expo
Hope you like it

I plan to be using this very same process with a 7 inch sculpt of mine in the near future too. Except I’ll be using resin. Good luck and the work is looking fun and cool.

Very cool! What printing service did you use? Are you gonna roto cast the vinyl? Also, as I’m from Amsterdam as well, does your friends have a store there or does he know of any companies willing to help in the molding and casting process?

Good stuff, can’t wait to see more!

Which product did you use to create the mold (the pink one)? Then to cut/slice it, you did it randomly?

If you could provide some accurate step by step to create such mold and providing the list of products you are using (resin, silicon, etc), I’m sure a lot of ZBrush artists would be happy to learn more about it (myself too!)

And thank you for posting that, it’s really interesting!

Hi,

Really nice design.

Did you find that all the seperate pieces fitted together straight from the printers, or did you have to work on them to get them to fit?

cool ! seems there are a lot of people interested to learn about these stuff (casting. making molds. etc)
it would be great if you can share some info. specially the materials you use. Thanks in advance :):+1:
