ZScripts and Plugins with ZBrush 3.12 for Mac OSX

Please note that all plugins released for ZBrush 3.1 for Windows will need updating before they will work with ZBrush 3.12 for Mac OSX. Please assume that a plugin/zscript will NOT work with Mac OSX unless the post specifically says so.

Thank you,

Thanks for the heads-up. :+1:

Note to whomever may care; Even though it also will require a new script-fix or plugin fix, the Online Help is still usable if launched manually in a browser.

If you have Parallels, BootCamp, VmWareFusion, etc., and the ZB3 PC version, you can drag, copy or transfer the PC version ZHelp folder over to the Mac Zbrush folder. The Help button Doesn’t work properly yet, (still launches the old zB-2 help), but at least the zB3 help is usable on the Mac side.
FWIW.

Be nice if someone could provide a version for Mac users without access to a PC OS…

The PC help is essentially the same as the ZBrush Online Docs .

As soon as things settle down after the initial Mac release, I’m sure Pixo will get on to the scripts and plugs.

But I would be nice if they could just re-save the ZHelp.exe download as a .zip. The contents are all html and platform independent. They just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

We have the most important bit now, a nice silver ‘Z’ in my Dock!!!

Other than a few display issues everything is great & really smooth…

Plugins will just be the big fat cherry!!!

Zketchpad please!!!

how we will be notified when a plugin is updated for 3.12?

Where can we download them?

I’m really looking forward to ZappLink, and the image plane plugins.

3.12 is a beast! great job pixo.

Announcements will be made here at ZBC, and I’ll probably compile a list in a sticky thread at the top of this forum.

Shouldn’t the scripts work without modifications?

In an ideal world. But technical reasons associated with ZBrush’s improved features mean that the configuration can’t always be adjusted to suit a particular script. And where there is a library file that needs updating too.

QuickSave appears to be working just fine… thank god.

stablemuch?

coalmarchtom, thank you for confirming that QuickSave still works with 3.12. Good to hear that!

I have a question that you or marcus or some other Mac user might be able to answer concerning custom menus in 3.12:

Is it now possible to DELETE custom menus? Has anything else changed with creating custom menus?

thanks, Sven

Sven,

I have no idea; I’m extremely new to the whole ZBrush paradigm. Is there a way I can confirm something for you? A step by step perhaps?

Also, would there be a way to have a simple “Save Tool” command in QuickSave instead of the incremental? It’s an awesome tool, but the duplicate copies isn’t necessary 100% of the time.

Thanks for the great piece of kit,

Thomas

Hi,
Don’t worry about the question. Perhaps marcus might be able to answer that tomorrow morning.

As for saving a tool over the previously saved file, all you have to do is click the Model button and press enter.

Sven

Hi Sven,

I’ve not found a way to delete custom menus. As Pixolator has said, 3.12 is an interim release so hopefully this will make it into the next update.

hope springs, thanks m.

Sven

so who’s actually working on this then?

any progress reports?

Now that we’re moving beyond the initial release chaos, it seems like getting a working help download (or even a zip with instructions on how to move things around to create a working OSX ZB3.12 Help system) is a desperate requirement. Since many Mac folks haven’t touched V3.x ZB before, and thus have to explore to discover all the changes, online help is critically important to help us get up to speed.

Is there a detailed, thorough documentation of what V3.1 UI/features significantly changed for Mac ZB 3.12 anywhere? Having that would at least allow folks to use it and existing PC V3 tutorials/references, and the like to get up to speed. The 3.12 “new features” stuff is interesting, but doesn’t serve this purpose – what’s needed is something targeted as a UI/feature reference for V3.x->3.12 migration.

Beyond that, some additional notion of where key plugins are in the pipeline would be spectacularly helpful (but no breath being held for that).

Documentation for ZBrush 3.12 for Mac OSX is being worked on and will be released as soon as it is ready. In the meantime, much of the information about 3.1 applies to 3.12:

Thanks for the link marcus.
