When I use the zmodeler brush, I see a cube associated with it, just above undo history, as if it were a IMM brush? I can delete the mesh in the brush palette, but the stray cube always comes back. Is this a bug?
No. This is normal behavior.
You can switch off the IMM viewer in Preferences > Interface > IMM Viewer> Auto Show/hide. Be sure to read the ctrl-mouseover tooltip for further details.
Why? I can’t insert the cube as a insertmesh. Why is it there?
The Zmodeler brush is also a nanomesh brush. It has been like this for years.
You can delete the cube though and it works just fine. So why have it at all? The preview just takes up room when using default settings
If you read the tooltip I directed you to in the first post, it explained that the IMM viewer is a part of any IM, IMM, or nanomesh brush. Zmodeler is a Nanomesh brush. You can disable the IMM viewer via the method mentioned in my original post.
Otherwise, I don’t develop the program. Suggestions should be sent to Pixologic directly via support ticket.
I guess what I am saying is there no reason for it to have a insert mesh. You can delete it from the brush. It may be a nanomesh brush under the hood but it doesn’t a dummy cube.
Again, nanomesh. IM, IMM, and Nanomesh brushes all receive the IMM Viewer.
And again, it is pointless to tell this to me. I don’t develop the program. If you’d like to make a suggestion or feature request to the people who do, you must submit it via support ticket tied to your registered copy of the program. It is likely to be missed otherwise.
