Zmodeler bridge edges doesn't work

Hi

I’ve a very simple Tool that I just want to bridge 2 opposing edges (one of the simplest commands in every poly modeling app) but nothing happens, an error message, a crash, nothing. If a delete some random quad and attempt to bridge it, same result.

I’ve also tried some other intuitive commands like close hole or extrude, but they’ll produce a mess of topology or won’t snap to the opposing edges.

What’s going on, can anybody help of has a better solution to reconstruct faces?

I’m using v2021.7.1. Tool ZTL: https://www.file.io/WYus/download/xtNl6TJxzsG9

Hello @lopan ,

Please contact ZBrush support if you’d like someone to examine your file and tell you if there’s a problem with the geometry. Technical support requires the exchange of sensitive technical and license information and can not be conducted over the public forums. Please also upgrade your program to at least ZBrush 2022.0.7 which is a free upgrade for registered users. There’s little point in troubleshooting obsolete versions of the program from years ago for issues that may have already been fixed.

I can’t tell you anything for certain without examining the file, and you would need to contact Support for me to do that.

Thank you!

Not sure what’s the issue. Are normals facing the same way?

i’d perhaps try extruding the edge and then stitch verts as a workaround here

Ok thanks then. I think ZBrush is not for me, I was following a tutorial and I take ages to do basic things in ZModeler that’d take only seconds in 3DS ou Blender.

All normals are correct. I exported the model to Blender and quickly I could see there were some problems with the geometry (double/inside faces) but none with the faces I was trying to bridge.

No command did the job in ZModeler so my “solution” was to export to Blender, do some modeling stuff and reimport back and start with the sculpting.

I think one major problem is that there is no clear way to check if there are issues with the geometry. I tried that ‘Mesh Integrity Check’ but that didn’t detect anything wrong. So :man_shrugging:

Okay so I’m actually just doing this tutorial right now as I’m writing this message out. What I did was click on delete hidden under modify topology, and then that seemed to fix the issue. Bridge edges worked fine for me after doing that. My assumption is that there are faces being made once you bridge the edges but it doesn’t show or is hidden for some reason.

On another note, there was another issue of where in this section, there were edges running along as shown below: image

When deleting the slanted edges in order to make quad faces, it would end up deleting the face entirely. I found out that you had to stitch the points accordingly along the edge-loop of where my cursor is:

My guess is because they’re not stitched, the face is treated as being separate from the edge-loop of where my cursor is located, and thus upon deleting the slanted edges, treats it as not being attached to the rest of the pouch.
