Zif Click Version 1.2

I was going to wait for the new version of Zbrush came out but I might be older then and plus you guys can help me improve the script. Anyhoo, I present

Zif Click, will let you Point and click new zsphere nodes, or draw them with a brush. It will also enable you to copy part of your model and then replicate it anywhere else, even onto another separate model. Zif Click will allow you to work with Branches of the Zsphere Tree, which means the node that you have selected and any associated Children of that node. You can Copy, Move, Delete, Transverse or Scale that Branch independently of the rest of the model.

I have used MTB’s, Mentat’s and Tjaden’s models liberally in my documentation, thanks guys I couldn’t get past a paper bag.

Please post Bugs, Suggestions and experiments in this thread.

YAY!

tahak you! 8)

This looks fantastic Digits - many thanks.

The ability to auto-attach zsphere chains derived from drawn lines to exisitng nodes makes ‘sketching’ whole 3D models in ZB a reality; it’s a whole new way of interacting with your model; sketching fantastic trees in 3D comes to mind immediately.

The copy function is fabulous too. You had something similar in your Widget, although it had some problems with complex branches. Do we also need to be careful with ZifClick when it comes to the order in which we add zspheres to branches that are to be copied, or is it more tolerant of this (the head example in the docs makes it look like it)?

One other idea not really related to ZifClick, but the spiral in your docs made me think of it. Would it be possible to make a spiral-making zscript that would make more mathematically correct 3D spirals from zspheres? I’ve made these before using your widget but had to move each zsphere ‘manually’ (e.g on the gun in this thread; if the process could be automated it would be great.

I guess it could first make a flat spiral (in the X,Y axes) with x number of nodes and x amount of ‘turns’. It could then start at the central zsphere and move it in the Z-axis distance x, then move to the next zsphere and move it distance x.2, then to the next for distance x.3, etc.

Then we could use ZifClick to attach it to another model.

Just a thought - consider it in the open if anyone wants to run with it

Wow brilliant stuff.

Digit!

This is By Far the Coolest Zscript I have ever seen!!!

OMG! This is so fUN!!!

I made a Bicycle in about 5 minuets, Plus I can see this as a great way to make ornamental Iorn work for like gates and things… Also Vines, trees and roots!

This is awesome!

Thanks again!

Thank you very much Digits. I look forward to using Zif Click.

i was kind of “betatester” of this script for a few days and never have had that much fun with zspheres - kudoskudoskudos, Digits, methinks this to be absolutely magic fantastico stuff. a few results:

thanks again

Mr. D,

This script is huge! I bow to your extraordinary skills - ZScripting is both art and science. The art is seeing down past the raw commands that ZBrush provides, into the hidden connections and their potential for magnificent new tools. The science is being able to structure the script so as to fully realize that potential! You do both so well.

With Zif Click, you’ve set the bar very VERY high, my friend!

And, I think you did equally well in choosing your beta tester, Juandel: he has a good intuition for using your tools. It shows in the work. Nice stuff Juandel!

Sven

Digits:
Thanks very much for this powered Zif Click Version 1.2¡¡¡
Congratulations
Andreseloy

Seems an another wondeful powerful script
Pilou

yeah, i will love this! i know it!
very thanks!

Digits, this looks like your best script yet! Maybe when I get some time, I can give it a shot!

Thanks a lot Digits for this wonderfull script.
I haven’t yet got that far to using any of your
scripts, but reading the descriptions, I know
they are both handy and ingenious.
Thanks for coding!
:+1:

Thank you all for the comments, I appreciate it.

Yes the copy/paste function should work alot better than my old approach. I finally figured out how to transverse the Zsphere tree properly. Let me know if you find any situations where it doesn’t

I have written a couple of spiral scripts, one in my original widgets, but there are so many different types with lots of parameters. Your idea gave me an idea however that I think I will put in the next version. ZTaper and Zincr. Like Taper it will add/subtract Zdepth from the last created node. So that while your are clicking, or Getstroke/draw you can make spirals manually. You could also create spirals or form your Zspheres now by putting a object like a Cone and placing the nodes on it with 2D off so that they conform to the zdepth of the canvas. But ZTaper will work out cool I think.

Thanks again Juandel for all the feedback your experiments are fantastic. I especially like the treescapes

Thanks Svengali! Got to thank first Pixologic for putting the tools together to perpetuate zbrush’s functionality.

GRRRREAT ZSCRIPT DIGITS!!! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:
AND UNBELIVEABLE BEAUTY IN THOSE IMAGES JUANDEL!!!1 :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :+1: :+1: :+1:
Thanx both!

Argh Juandel!! I hate you!!

Hi Fouad
Just press some buttons
Pilou

This is brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing this, and for giving us the documentation too. I agree with Sven, you definitely raised the bar, not only in your script, but also your gratuity.

I hope your charity will bless you tenfold in return!

Thanks a bunch!

Chad

Hi Everyone! Hopefully a few of you remember me. To everyone else, hope to get to know you better. I was tickled to see that there are still people out there calling zspheres “zifs.” When I first thought of it, it seemed like only 2 or 3 of us were using it. Anyway, I haven’t zbrushed in about 6 months (maybe longer). I will get motivated and try to post something. I have forgotten quite a bit about ZBrush, but it should come back soon. Incidentally, this script rocks, Digits. I made a twisted, viney thing soon after Zifs were introduced, and it took me ages to twist it manually. This function of yours can only be described as amazing, and I will definitely use it a lot. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Slosh, welcome back buddy. Hey ya, they have been Zifs to me ever since you coined the term. Hope to see some your great images again.
