Zbrush on IPAD

Guys, i have seen various posts on the web and couple of videos but i am unsure how good this is or if it is possible now - can zbrush run on the ipad and if so how well does it run?

thanks

D

D,
I have the same question. Thinking about getting iPad for initial modeling setup, etc. So far, it appears that a 32GB memory would be sufficient, but I cannot find anyone who has “done it” it. Hoping someone will pick up thread and post a positive experience.

sorry to burst any bubbles but the iPad 4 has only 1 Gig of RAM.
Some get confused about the term “memory” and the term “storage”.
The iPad has up to 64 GB of Solid-State-Device storage.

Also, Computer programs do not run on “Pod” processors such as the A6 Chip. Pixologic would have to gear up an entirely new development crew for a completely different Processor Platform.

If demand is great enough, Pixologic may develop an iApp that is a crippled version or subset of features, but I would not hold my breath waiting.

I, for one, long for a 16 GB RAM MacBookPro Tablet Computer. :+1:
(but I’m not doing any breath-holding on that one, either). :frowning:

123D Sculpt runs on the iPad, you can export your model. Fairly cheap, it can get you started when away from your PC and copy of ZBrush.

hardware and lack of pressure sensitivity would make it quite useless to develop zbrush for ipad.

Quoted for agreement.

Surface Pro is the way to go :+1:

Thank you guys.
Looks like 123D Sculpt is the way to go for me. I wanted a tablet to develop ideas, sketches, etc. so it looks like I can export .obj files to my iMac and go from there.
Really helped me out.

Haven’t checked 123d sculpt but downloaded 123d creature, wich was for free yesterday.
I tried forger before, which is laggy and crashing quite often on my ipad4.
123D Creature has a improved blender style skeleton for basemeshes, which is very easy to use.
Simple basic sculpting tools and a simple & nice paint and render section makes it the best sculpting app for the ipad in my eyes.

Still not so cool than sculptris sculpting feeling and far away from zBrush possibilities, this could be an mobile option for simple stuff.

Another pretty nice 3D app is tree sketch, which is doing exactly what it’s name saying in the most pleasure easy way one could expect.

Something more serious for sculpting on ipad would be really cool.
I would spend those 90 Euros for a pressure sensitive pen like adonit touch or pogo connect then.

App could be pressure sensitive as there are more and more styluses that offer pressure sensitivity, and they’re getting better at it. Im would love a very basic sketching version of zb on my ipad. 123 has serious limitations in terms of control. Sme of zb’s brushes would help a lot.

Agreed! I was happily surprised with what can be done with Sculpt123 on an iPad. And Forger is also impressive on the ipad but neither filled the void left by not having ZBrush on the go.

I bought a Surface Pro last weekend and am loving it. I have not really pushed it far yet and it has some quirks but I am really happy with what I’ve experienced so far. It has 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity. It runs zbrush and modo well. Painter 12 even respects the touch gestures on it. Not only can I zoom in and out with the typical squeeze, i can also rotate the canvas (in a non destructive way) with the twist of two fingers. That’s huge for me.

Here are my first fewSurface Pro ZBrush Doodles.

Thanks for your input guys

Poda has it down on the Surface Pro… Cool stuff!!! He mentioned Forger which I consider to be closest to what you can do in comparison to ZBrush on the iPad, but as mentioned it can only be pushed so far due to memory constraints.

I imagine that Pixologic probably has something in mind for mobile, but very limited I’m sure. If the ability to use ZSpheres and Dynamesh with just a few basic brushes was available on mobile it would be a great way to hash out ideas on the fly. If you could create forms to take home and detail that would be too cool!!!

There is a demand and it would be good publicity for ZBrush, so it would be a good move…
