In an effort to keep the ZBrush Community abreast of how ZBrush is being used we will occassionally post clips and links to work that used ZBrush in its creation.

The model pictured on the screen in the review looks familiar.

Blimey BR have you ever thought of being a detective…

I saw this the other day, makes me want to go out & buy a Cintiq or something, ZB’ing in the park sounds like a plan…

BAD Ryan, BAD!! I want one SOOO badly now. Even my wife thinks it’s a good idea…Man, Z-Brushing in the park or at the beach…This looks like some SCARY fun here…

Dickie

Ah man, i never seen what a tablet looks like in use (especially with Zrush!)

That looks like alot of fun with zbrush.

Is the pen/screen pressure sensitive? If it is, then I will be glad to save money to replace my tablet with a tabletPC.

-Hamzah

It is pressure sensitive but not to the same degree as a Wacom, read the article, all the info is there…

I would recommend taking a look at the motion computing tablets. I purchased one second hand a while ago, and Zbrush runs really well on it. I take a train for about 40+ minutes to and from work, and during that time I’m able to Zbrush away. Really fun, and no, I’m in no way affiliated with motion computing, just a satisfied customer.

Great article. :+1:

I’m trying to save up for a Tablet PC myself.

Is there a way to deal with selecting parts of a model (normally by dragging while holding down Control+Shift) if you don’t have a spare keyboard handy, or if it’s just not practical, like if you’re on a bus or a train?

About a year ago I asked that of a random sales guy at the computer store. According to him there wass some degree of that, but it wasn’t as good as a wacom.

Too bad they are still very expensive… i think performance will not be all that either compared to normal pc…

If i look at my laptop and normal pc its a world of difference… also at full power i think the battery won’t last very long.

Oh God, I ordered one. Should be here Friday. I’m excited as hell. Ordered from Newegg. They have a really good rep, sales wise. I’ll let you all know my impressions when it arrives.

Special thanks to Chris for his wonderful review and proptly answering the few questions I had.

Dickie

I am saving for the big cintiq. I am looking forward to order one in 2017. Till then it’s AOC 17" and Aiptec with bandaid’s and self made power for the pen…

Looking forward to your report! I bet it will be a new dimension for you!
Lemo

lemonnado, thought you were saving for a camera?

At this rate you will be taking soda bottles to the store
for the deposit;)

Camera is Christmas 2007 8-). Maybeeeeeeeee earlier! Depends how long I can keep up having ramen noodles and beans as food pyramid…
Lemo

I hope none of the neighborhood cats go missing Lemo.

All that I am, all that I hope to be I owe to the dollar menu

at Mcdonalds.
(including arteries that have not seen blood in about 20 years)

Nobody answered my question, so I’ll ask it again:

Also, how much memory does the video card have? I couldn’t find this bit of info anywhere where the specs are listed. :qu:

WingedOne,

well, i was searching for some tablet info and came across this one- so; I dont have the acer tablet- I have the toshiba m200.
Part of my reason for getting the m200 was it (at the time) was the only with a dedicate graphic chipset at a decent size (still only 32mb), and the native res was higher than other tablets.
I also purchased it because of the 5 way program-dependent joystick.
I have one direction to alt, ctrl, shift, and ctrl+shift.
This seems to take care of all my needs to use it on the go.

Lately i’ve been sitting around at a museum and zbrushing some sculptures and the experience has been phenomenal.

I upgraded the m200 to 2gigs right away, so cant attest to using with lower mem, but I can work on the whole model in real-time at 5 subdivision, 6 starts to lag, but I only go that high when working on specific sections- so it works just fine then (sorry, i dont have the actual poly counts here)

If you can afford it, the m400 seems to be the end-all tablet at the moment. dual core, and 128mb of vid memory. Gets a little pricey at upwards of 2grand though.

Another note- Be very weary of the size, the m200, though small- is still a little large for comfort when standing up, anything like the tecra m4 i think would be far too large. PointPusher has a good point with the motion computing, i’ve used a very similar one before and the slate design is very lightweight and easy to use.

Lenovo also seems to hop onto the band wagon. But can one really work with 1024x768???
