ZBrush crashes when I select the move, scale or rotate tool in 2.5d

Zbrush generates an unrecoverable error and crashes whenever I select the move, scale or rotate tool in 2.5d mode.

Specifically, this happens only on projects I’ve saved and then reopened upon restarting Zbrush. For instance, if I start a new project I can go into and out of 2.5d, use the move tool and not run into any problems, but if I close ZBrush and then reopen it along with my project that I’m working on, selecting the move brush while in 2.5d mode causes an instant crash.

I originally discovered this when attempting to move alphas dragged out when using projection master, but the problem seems to be generalizable to any time I’m in 2.5.

Sorta driving me crazy, so if anyone has any ideas, that would be awesome!

Thanks

Was getting ready to help you troubleshoot your file, but I just tried a quick test in zb2019 on windows where I saved a simple polysphere as a .zpr and re-opened it, and it crashed for me too when entering move mode.

So it appears to be a significant bug.

Until such time as they get that patched, save the tool you want to do 2.5d work with as a tool in the Tool> Save As menu. This will only save the active tool, but then you can work on it without crashing, and re-import it to your project file.

Well, at least now I know it wasn’t just me missing something obvious. Thanks for checking it out and the workaround!

Many thanks both, I have let the developers know about this.
